Damn Birds 2 – What do the statues of the past, present, and future have in common? Winged demons (birds) pooing on them viciously. Play as special statues who have had enough… go through time and get revenge on these flying bastards using the best weapons possible.
Big Pixel Racing – It’s time to dig out the driving gloves and strap your self in for some action packed street racing. Work your way to the top of the rankings table, earning money as you blow away the competition. Your hard earned cash will be well spent in the upgrade shops where you can turn that hunk of junk into a mean racing machine.
Alter – Planets collide and our intrepid little hero finds himself with the power to grow and shrink the world around him. Will he use his new power for good or evil or AWESOME?
Sixty Seconds To Live – You have just 60 seconds of your life remaining. Can you solve your own murder in this mini-adventure?
Animal Bike Tour – Do the Animal bike tour and try to do some sick aerial bike moves.
Scratch: Bounty Hunter – Join Scratch and Cudgel on a harrowing adventure to find, capture, and collect the bounty on the evil Dr. Grimalkin.
Fly Me To The Moon – When Jean-Claude the megalomaniac mouse goes on stage, he becomes SUPER MOUSE! A planet rotates when you walk on its surface. This rotation will slowly close a gate in front of the moon. Make sure you reach it before the gate closes.
Drop 3 – Match same colored shapes in groups of 3 or more. Be careful, think fast.
physBallz – Try to create the longest chain possible by adjoining three or more similar colored physballz.
Splitty Adventures 2 – Back for more two-timing action? Split to send your little dude into the flames. Remember, you can split more than once!
9 GAG – 9 GAG is “a one stop deadliest handy micro-blog which collects any funny stuffs you find or create. It is your best time-killer and happy-pill.” This manifesto is hardly news. The Web is inundated with blogs that offer funny pictures, videos and textual content. So how come 9GAG scored the first spot on our Weekly Faves? For us at All My Faves the answer is obvious; excellent content combined with a simple and appealing interface is our bread and butter. Give it a try, I guarantee you will fall in love with 9GAG. For fast navigation make sure you check out their keyboard shortcuts, J, K and L. Below are some of the images I especially enjoyed. By the way, I strongly recommend following their updates via twitter. Have Fun!
Air America – Freedom of speech is a well established Amendment of the Constitution, but we’ve come to learn that certain news corporations tend to use their power to promote their own political agenda in the US. Without mentioning any names, such abuse of exposure and media power by news companies -using the 1st amendment’s rationale- is just downright wrong. So where can we turn to receive more objective, less propaganda-oriented news, or even better, learn of news items that don’t make it to mainstream media? Air America, ladies and gentlemen.
Air America is “the nation’s most recognized progressive talk radio network, providing an independent and unfiltered voice to a grateful listening nation”. In the summer of 2009 AirAmerica.com (the radio sibling on the Web) relaunched a most treasured website, offering not only a diverse palette of both domestic and international news topics, but also the option of tuning into four live streaming channels. For a progressive take on news and current affairs in the US and beyond, AirAmerica is a sure bet. Here’s an interesting video article to check out, and be sure to explore all the wonders this great site has to offer. And if you’re into keeping it retro, you can always listen to AirAmerica on the radio. Here’s how to find a station in your area.
TVDeck – My assumption is that one day we will watch TV shows, sport events, movies, music videos etc, exclusively on the Web. When will that happen? I guess that by 2030 or so no one will be subscribed to cable television service providers any more. Back to present day and brand new 2010, there is a certain concrete form of the futuristic forecast I made above, available today. Stop by TVDeck and tune into hours of marvelous content and videos on the net, with the huge added bonus of not having to search for them online. Sure, Hulu offers a similar service, but it focuses only on TV shows and movies…
TVDeck offers “a one-stop destination for the best programming online. It’s like a channel guide on satellite TV, but for online content.” If good quality video content is circulating in the Web somewhere, rest assured, TVDeck has it listed. Intrigued? I recommend starting with the Good Stuff channel or, if you are into sports, try out the NBA and NFL channels.
The New 7 Wonders – The mere fact that there is a Wonders of the World list demonstrates humanity’s collective effort to cherish our legacy and history for the sake of future generations. Based on the same concept there is a wonderful website named the New 7 Wonders, with the goal of “undertaking documentation and conservation works of monuments worldwide under the motto: ‘OUR HERITAGE IS OUR FUTURE'”. Now that we’ve got the ethos down, let’s dive deeper into the actual features the New 7 Wonders offers. One of the aspects I was most impressed by was the campaign voting feature designated for ‘wonders’ other than landscapes and architecture. The website presents multiple Wonder campaigns (see the latest ones here), and asks users to vote for their top seven picks.
What sort of campaigns do they offer, you might ask yourself. Well, the New 7 Wonders invites you to take part in a most diverse collection of campaigns, such as things that should be freely available to all citizens of the world (click on the Results tab to see the top 7) and the most influential women, just to name a couple. For those of you craving to know what physical sites around the world made it to the New 7 Wonders finals, click here for some amazing locations.
Foreca – One of the purposes of our Weekly Faves is to bring you the best of what is new on the Web. Having that said, it is seldom that we stumble upon a weather related site we feel deserves the Weekly title. Why? Because it seems weather forecasts online have maxed out in terms of visual appeal and, well, accuracy… However, Foreca did manage to stand out from the rest by offering something new in this all too bland meteorology field.
Foreca uses an extremely easy and intuitive interface – try it for yourself and see what the experience is like compared to other online weather forecast services. One Foreca feature I really enjoyed is that on any given day, they present the hottest and coldest locations on Earth on that day. This way, when it’s cold outside I can always dream of taking a vacation to a tropical destination, or I can simply take comfort in the fact that there are much colder places than my city of residence. Should we add Foreca to our weather faveline? Your comments always have the power to influence what’s featured on All My Faves!
Geekologie – As a blogger I always read the About us section of featured sites before writing my review. The reason I do so is that it’s important for me to understand the rationale or vision of the people who created the said websites to begin with. In the case of Geekologie, I found out that this site is “a geek blog dedicated to the scientific study of gadgets, gizmos, and awesome. There are a lot of shiny new things out there, and Geekologie is dedicated to finding every last one of them for you.”
This description led me to expect to see numerous gadgets with boring scientific specs and features – boring! But the truth of the matter is that Geekologie is far from that; it’s more about having fun with all the geeky stuff out there. In order to understand what I am talking about, check out 20 Life Lessons Learned From The New Mario and the Booty Pop.
Three Frames – Three shots of a motion picture or an animation might seem too few to be interesting, but this hilarious website proves that less is, indeed, more. More smirks and giggles, that is. The concept of Three Frames is straightforward. It’s a simple list of random, three framed pics of different movie scenes, documentary footage and animated shorts. Explore the world of humor, often even disgust, by scrolling down the pages of Three Frames.
To get you into the mood, see the three 3-framed creations below. Two important points ought to be noted though: the site fails to provide the required credits for the movies and footage it uses. If they get this one fixed, they might as well add a proper About Us page. And one more thing: some pictures contain nudity, so viewer discretion is advised. To see what three framed pics look like, click here.
2009: The Year in Pictures – The New York Times has compiled an amazing collection of the best pictures that bear evidence of the most significant and poignant moments and events of 2009. So what’s included? If something or someone made it to the headlines and became the talk of the (global) town for more than a week, you’ll find it, her or him here. Some amazing photos in the collection include President Obama of course, the miraculous (and casualty-free) Hudson River landing of Flight 1549, the Iranian opposition masses, and the ever-shrinking landscapes of rain forests in Brazil. For loads of more brilliantly taken compelling photos, check out the entire collection from start to finish. This is also the perfect opportunity to recommend exploring the NY Times’ video section in general, as it offers amazing visual content and news worth discovering.
Urban Sketchers – Urban Sketchers is “a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising the artistic, storytelling and educational value of location drawing, promoting its practice and connecting people around the world who draw on location where they live and travel.” A global collaboration meets artistic initiative and sharing is what you’ll find on Urban Sketchers. Are these sketches any good? Oh yeah, baby. See for example Michael Gage’s amazing work and decide for yourself. The blog also utilizes the writing skills of devoted and creative correspondents. If you’re considering becoming a sketcher or illustrator yourself, but are intimidated by beginner’s fidgety hands, you should know that fifth graders can also make sketches like a pro….
Dog Fight 2 – The term Dogfight emerged in World War I and is defined as an aerial combat between fighter aircrafts. Is this what the game is about? Yes. In Dogfight you are required to perform aerial maneuvers and shoot down enemy aircraft. You will also have to destroy ground forces if you want to proceed in the game. Best Sites of 2009 – The Best Sites of 2009 awards on All My Faves was a first for us this year, and boy, it was an exciting ride. In contrast to previous years of ‘Best of’ Weekly Faves picks, this year we decided to invest our users with the selection power. How did we do it? During the month of November the All My Faves team revisited all the Weekly Faves that were featured on the website throughout the year – that’s over 500 websites. Following a seemingly scrutinizing selection process, we narrowed it down to the 40 top faves. Next, we asked you, the users, to vote for your top five websites listed, and for over two weeks you made some tough choices which were processed and re-processed on a daily basis.
We closed the ballots on December 27th, and the ten winners were announced the following day. Among the ten champions, 1001 Rules For My Unborn Son scored the highest number of votes, and the two runner-ups are People of Walmart and Newsy (determined by number of votes, respectively). See the complete list of kings and queens below, and explore the gems 2009 has brought to us.
I would like to take this opportunity and give a huge Thank You shout out to all of our devoted users and to anyone who joined in and took part in this thrilling vote. And if you have a website in mind you feel is a great Weekly Faves candidate, let us know!
