Worldtime Buddy – Painless Timezone Converter

Worldtime Buddy – A most productive web-based app, Worldtime Buddy is particularly helpful to business professionals communicating with different cities and countries in different time zones. With Worldtime Buddy you can easily and painlessly schedule meetings between Los Angeles, Sydney and Paris without forcing anyone in these locations to stay late at the office, or worse, wake up super early, to attend that video conference call.

To make a time zone conversion or to set up a meeting between different zones, pick your desired locations, pick a date and time and save it via Gmail, Google Calendar, add to Clipboard or add it to an existing meeting. It’s simple, easy to use and does the job!

Say100 – New and Innovative Media Company Cleverly Shows Off Its Power

Say100 – What used to be VideoEgg and Six Apart is now a sexy and sought-after vertical media company, Say Media. And what a a better way to show off the modern media company’s power than by showing off its most creative customers? Say100 is “a list of influential voices in 10 content verticals, including food, entertainment, style and technology.”

Remember the awesome looking women’s online lifestyle mag xoJane we reviewed last month? Its creator Jane Pratt is one of the Style voices featured on Say100. Other fields featured on Say100 include food, parenting, business (marketing expert Seth Godin is also a customer), tech, design, travel and others. So what do the “voices” on Say100 mean, exactly? Each field’s primary professional has his or her own page with a bio paragraph and links to his or her respective website and social network venues. See Foodie expert Amanda Hesser’s page as an example.

So what’s in Say100 for you? Even if SayMedia’s mighty powers of advertising haven’t managed to impress you, at the very least you will find great sites in numerous categories. In addition, each channel includes a post feed on the right side of your screen which offers high quality updates from relevant blogs and sites. You can’t argue with great content.

Prizes – Q & A Service Where Winner Helpers Get Cash

Prizes.org – Sign up with your Facebook or Twitter account, post a question or a task and offer whatever reward you feel is fair. Prizes is a peer-to-peer Q&A platform where users post inquiry contests others take part in, which means both sides have to gain from this cool service. This site offers an upgraded version of the answers concept, which is why I believe Prizes.org has a serious chance of exceeding Yahoo Answers in terms of honest assistance (as opposed to “lol” and such answers you usually get in such places).

Project Noah – Learn About and Share the Wonders of Nature via Your Mobile

Project Noah – What initially started out as an experimental project by NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications Program later became a mobile app – the interactive and social platform, Project Noah, where ‘scientific spotting’ are entered by users all over the world, and shared with the community. This, as Project Noah’s creators hope, will serve as a “go-to platform for documenting all the world’s organisms and through doing this we hope to develop an effective way to measure Mother Nature’s pulse.” And the best part of Project Noah? It’s designed to work on mobile phones (started with the iPhone). This means you can take a shot of that weird-looking beetle you found during your hike in the woods, and share it on Project Noah, thereby learning more about that organism.

Here’s a screenshot showing what users recently spotted in nature and shared with the Project’s community. Each image you click on takes you to a page where you can see the animal photo’s full size, discover who posted it and where was this taken. This app is particularly beneficial to families with young children, as it’s a wonderful way to experience and learn about the environment and the creatures living within it.

Svpply – Find and Share Your Taste of Art, Style & Home Decor

Svpply – Back in December I talked about a cool tagging site called Nuji, where users roam around the Web and tag things (can be fashion, interior design and more), share their finds with others and find inspirations from other users’ tagged items. Svpply offers the same overall service, with additional slight improvements. With Svpply you can filter ‘finds’ by selecting product category, gender and price.

Follow users who have the same taste as you do, and get you-centered product recommendation, plus the direct path to buying that dress, sofa or artwork. To start off, why not explore the site’s Editor’s picks?

Happy hunting.

Not Exactly Rocket Science – Our Planet’s Surprising and Inspiring Quirks

Not Exactly Rocket Science – The vast and often complicated world of science is also enchanting and inspiring. But showing the wonders of science is not limited to BBC or National Geographic films and series. Discover Magazine’s Not Exactly Rocket Science blog is here on a mission: “Rocket Science is his attempt to talk about the awe-inspiring, beautiful and quirky world of science to as many people as possible.” Written by the young, award-winning Ed Young, Rocket Science is a fascinating blog worth checking into every week.

Here’s an interesting post I’ve found here in this insightful blog: a video of a mandrill monkey in the Chester Zoo in the UK, caught giving itself a pedicure with tools it made by itself. How amazing is that?

Why All My Faves really is the easiest way to explore the web…

In today’s digital world, automation is for the most part a good thing, even great, since it means that less time and effort are required to achieve the desired result. But when it comes to Web navigation and content consumption (whether in text, video or other media form) at work, at home or anywhere else, automation in the name of productivity can be a deterrent.

Search fatigue is becoming a widespread downside to the world of online search, and SEO-savvy spammers and marketing freeloaders try to grab your attention on that very first results page, under the pretense of offering valid and useful content…

Yummly – The Smart and Time-Saving Way to Find Online Recipes

Yummly – When it comes to getting credible, right-on recipes, I usually go to Epicurious.com and the Food Network’s website. I am aware of the existence of many other sites that can be just as insightful and useful, but going to more than two sites for recipes seems like too much work. Thanks to Yummly, I only need to visit one site to get all the results for my requested recipe.

The screenshot above shows my search for a grilled salmon recipe, which resulted with numerous entries in various cooking sites, including my personal favorite epicurious.com. What I love about Yummly is that the site not only scans the web for relevant results, but also lets you refine your search by additional parameters such as taste preferences, allergies, diets, courses, cuisines, sources, holidays and related recipes, among others. All of the shown results are user-rated of course, so you don’t have to start guessing if this truly is a good recipe or not. This is a genuine cooking & recipes facilitator you should try out.

Decide – Make Your Next Electronics Buy a Smarter One

Decide – Don’t you just hate it when you buy say, a digital camera you have been craving for a while, and a week later you find out the price dropped by $50? Decide.com is here to help you make smarter purchases of electronics by letting you know if now’s a good time to buy that laptop, camera, game console or any other gadget you’re after.

Decide.com uses sophisticated prediction algorithms that make rational forecasts of price drops and new model releases to help you make smarter purchases that actually save you money. Decide.com also comes in a mobile version (not an app per se) so you can make better choices while in the electronics store.  Here’s a glimpse of what Decide.com looks like when searching for a Samsung digital camera (which I’ve been dying to get):

I’d better check out the new model first before making the purchase. How else would have I known about this? Thanks, Decide!

Wunderlist – Not just another task management service, Wunderlist offers a powerful to-do and project list tool that has all the perks of today’s digital age. When such great functionality is built so beautifully, it would be a sin not to give Wunderlist a try.  Here’s to much more productive to-do’s.

EcoGeek – The Bliss of Good Technology for the Environment

EcoGeek – The Weekly Blog winner of last week, this geeky yet awesome blog is devoted to “exploring the symbiosis between nature and technology.” EcoGeek is far from offering superficial, well-intentioned posts about making the planet a cleaner and better place. Far from it. The blog offers well-researched and well-written articles on pressing issues concerning the American nation and the world.

Here are a couple of examples of the posts you will find on EcoGeek. The first made me all warm and fuzzy inside since I’m an avid cyclist: Us Moving Forward on Bicycle Interstate Highway System. The second is a post announcing the terrific news concerning electronics waste:

EcoGeek is an environmental godsend, and I’d like to share with you the site’s call to action: “We’ve got to keep 6 billion people happy without destroying our planet. It’s the biggest challenge we’ve ever faced….but we’re taking it on. Are you with us?” Well, are you?
