Design Milk – This cool design website is one of our favorites, and is part of our Design MiniFaves page for ages now. Last week it was included in our Weekly Blogs lineup and it scored lots of user attention, therefore it made it to this week’s Weekly Faves.
Design Milk is a comprehensive resource of design in practically every possible industry: Architecture, art, furniture, interior design, style & fashion, even technology. In addition, Design Milk is committed to present the latest news on design which, combined with its beautiful look and feel, constitutes a top choice design website filled with ideas and inspirations. Here are a couple of posts I enjoyed reading -click the images to read them.
If you’re still craving for more, check out the world of design in the canine kingdom – Dog Milk.
Street Peeper – A winning Weekly Blog, Street Peeper is a fine Sartorialist counterpart, offering high definition photos of well-dressed men and and women (young and beautiful of course) in various global cities.
To explore the cool looks on StreetPeeper, simply click an image on the homepage – these are recent entries. Another option is viewing lookbooks by cities, or by typing a label name or style (i.e. Marc Jacobs) in StreetPeeper’s search box. Another option for checking out street fashion is through the news section. The person behind StreetPeeper and the camera is Phil, a style-savvy guy who started this project following what he calls a “variety of odd-jobs.” Here are a couple of looks I loved.
Fashism – Ladies, we’ve all been there before. We put on a new dress, pants or top. We turn to our girlfriend or boyfriend/husband, asking “how do I look?” If a far too considerate, sugar-coated answer is what you’re getting instead of an honest response, Fashism is your solution. Founded by fashion columnist Brooke Moreland, and cleverly marketed by Ashley Granata, Fashism is here to give you a sincere feedback on your look or newly purchased apparel item.
Simply upload an image (you can do so via iPhone as well), and let the community have its say through ratings and comments. Although signing up to Fashism is extremely rewarding, you do not necessarily have to be a registered user to upload pics and get feedback on your look. Having an account though can earn you points which can bring you discounts and special offers, so why not register? Here are a couple of great looks I found here on Fashism.

Boutiques.com – Visual power has penetrated the fashion realm and now online apparel shopping is more accurate and individualized than ever. Take Boutiques.com for example, brought to us by Google, which “lets you find and discover fashion goods through a collection of boutiques curated by taste-makers — celebrities, stylists, designers, and fashion bloggers.” This ‘make-it-your-own’ apparel store uses visual technology that ‘learns’ your taste and style, and offers specific items that you, the users, will likely appreciate and hopefully purchase.
How does Boutiques learn what your style is, and what items to offer you accordingly? Click the Create Your Boutique button on the upper right corner, and start selecting your best outfits out of the ones the system offers you (actual celebrities’ styles). I did this for about 5 minutes, and Boutiques.com informed me my style is ‘casual chic.’
To finish off your own Boutique and have ‘it’s all you’ item recommendations, you will need to go through five more steps, but these are filled with fun and glamor you will enjoy every second of it. These include choosing your favorite (and least favorite) silhouettes, colors and patterns for a variety of clothing categories, and when you’re done, you go to your ‘Storefront’ and check out a huge catalog of clothing and accessories all suiting your personal style. Plus, you can follow other users who have created their storefront, and others can follow you for some added inspiration. I totally understand why Google bought this company. They KNOW style!
Influencers – A most inspiring and thought-provoking project, Influencers is a short documentary film by David Johnson and Paul Rojanathara, focusing on the factors that create fads and trends. The film was shot in New York City, featuring different professionals from the creative field who share their opinion on what or who is an influencer or trendsetter. The creative agency R+I Creative came up with the concept of this amazing short.
The film is in HD quality and the post-production editing made it especially powerful and captivating. The film is less than 14 minutes long, but the inspiration you draw from it will be long lasting. And don’t forget: ideas spread just like viruses do!
eBay LookBook – It seems every apparel brand these days offers some form of a look book on its site; there are also very successful sites which offer nothing but user-submitted looks and styles (such as lookbook.nu and the like). Well, eBay is using this fashion trend to its e-commerce advantage, and now, in collaboration with Lucky Magazine, offers the perfect platform to submit, rate and get feedback on your personal style. Why would eBay offer such a think for free? So you will get the urge to shop for more clothes of your taste, on eBay of course.
I believe eBay’s concept is genius. Although users are not by any means obligated to buy anything if they choose to use the LookBook platform, I know I would most certainly be tempted to buy something. The LookBook is easy to use, it’s very inviting and it’s open to everyone, so guys, feel free to submit your look as well. You can also simply browse the gallery, see which styles scored high and continue from there.
Makers Market – For those of you who already know Etsy and like the concept of directly buying art and accessories from the artist who made them, you should also add Makers Market to your list of artisan shopping. Makers Market is “a curated market place of wonderful science, tech and artistic creations created and sold directly by some of our favorite Makers from around the World. – From the creators of Make and Boing Boing.”
There are thousands of products here for sale, listed under categories such as tech, science, arts & crafts, home + life (my favorite), wearables, music, even services. Makers Market is a remarkable venue for all those geeky artists to show off their talent and sell their amazing creations. Great initiative, superb execution and gorgeous products make this site a personal favorite.
Wetpaint – Simply identified as a “custom-tailored [entertainment platform] for young women who love TV and fashion,” Wetpaint is first and foremost a content specialist web publisher that has put its foot down and decided to offer its first “property” in the entertainment content area, hence this superb Weekly Fave spot.
Since Wetpaint specializes in online content, I won’t be surprised if this particular entertainment venue will make you wish Wetpaint had covered other interest areas as well. With the intent of offering top and engaging content while inviting users to interact with each other, Wetpaint is exceptional; you’ll understand why the way you consume content on this site is remarkable compared to what’s already out there.
Browse the entertainment categories (TV shows, fashion, gossip, spoilers, photos, videos, TV stars) and enjoy well-written and edited, interesting articles, posts as well as videos and photos. In short, Wetpaint is most definitely a keeper. See Wetpaint’s Grey’s Anatomy page to learn more.
Lotie – Probably one of the best and most talented illustrators on Earth, Lotie lives in and works from Paris. Her amazing works scored top notch campaigns such as Smart (the mini car), Absolut Vodka, Duplo, Ferrero (the chocolate), and many others. In fact, even France’s First Lady, Carla Bruni, paid for Lotie’s talent to promote herself.
So what would you imagine the website of a globally renowned illustrator to look like? Nothing short of amazing, and Lotie.com is exactly that. This is one of the most beautiful websites you’ll see for a while. Help yourself and explore the works of the virtuoso Lotie.

Chicisimo – Claiming to be “a global community of girls sharing their personal style and inspiring each other,” Chicisimo is a wonderful resource I wish I had had available when I was in my teens. If you already have a facebook or Twitter account, signing up is easy -take advantage of this collective how-to style resource.
Tap into the sense of style and chic of young women all over the country, rate their looks and upload your own ‘workin’-it’ photo and get feedback from the Chicisimo community. Simplicity, straightforward style and sharing? Yes please! See a couple of photos I was inspired by and perhaps I’ll apply to my wardrobe this week on a night out with friends.
By the way, be sure to check out the Web’s best style resources on our Style mini page.

thredUP – You buy your 5 year old kid an entire wardrobe. A year later nothing fits. We’re all familiar with this scenario. But before you head for the mall or your favorite retail store, consider this idea: clothing swap. thredUP is a great time and money saving solution for families looking for the right size of apparel items for their growing children. Although the swap is for used clothing, they’re all in good condition. You only pay for the shipping costs and you must provide a box of clothes your child has outgrown. This exchange is a terrific concept and I sincerely hope it will catch on. After all, it saves time, money, and it’s all about good intentions. thredUP is a win-win situation.
Zoogami – This is a whole lot of fun! Play by signing up via Facebook Connect and grant your webcam the access to take your photo. Without giving away too much, all I can say is you’ll have to get used to wearing glasses, and you will have to be quick in following the instructions you hear on your speakers… Enjoy and see the gallery of all the other users who have played before you. By the Way, this site is actually an ad for a facial accessory. Guess which kind?
