MapMyFitness is a mobile application that lets you track all of your fitness-related activities.
Much of the hype surrounding the launch of the Apple Watch was centered around the device’s ability to track the health of its wearer. Although new wearable technology like Fitbits will always offer the best way to monitor one’s health, smartphones already can serve as a useful training tool. MapMyFitness is an app that lets users keep track of all their fitness activities. The app uses GPS to record your runs or other activities onto an interactive map. You can view metrics like workout duration, distance, pace, speed, elevation, calories burned and route traveled. It’s like Nike’s running app, but with more features.
MapMyFitness also has a few other features that make it one of the best options for tracking your fitness. You can easily share the details of your workout routine via social media, and you can also connect with other users via the MapMyFitness site. This helps encourage you to continue exercising, motivating yourself and others to stay in shape. It’s also useful if you want to do some other outdoor activity besides running — like hikes or urban walks. No matter what you’re doing when moving around outdoors, you’re still exercising. It’s nice to have the phone in your pocket keep track of the health benefits involved without having to wear any additional technology. MapMyFitness is available on iPhone, Android and BlackBerry.
