VHX – The New, Easier and Way Better Tool to Watch and Share Videos

VHX – How do you share cool videos with friends? Perhaps you simply share the YouTube or Vimeo link via email or Facebook, like most people. Well, VHX seeks to make the way we consume and share videos online better, easier and way cooler. As they explain, “VHX is the way you’re supposed to watch and share videos with friends. We’ve combined the best parts of TV with the best of the web.”

VHX offers several unique perks including the option to bookmark videos from anywhere on the Web, and a cool Chrome extension that tracks YouTube and Vimeo videos you watch anywhere on the web and saves them into your private history. In short, VHX is a note-worthy video player (no pun intended) in the online video field you ought to explore for better video consumption and sharing with friends.

Intel’s The Museum of Me – A Visual Romanticism of Your Facebook Account

The Museum of MeIntel invites you to create and marvel at a remarkable visualization of your Facebook account (including friends, photos, Likes, locations and more) in this amazing video made up of and about you. Sign in with Facebook and grant access to the Museum of Me. Once the data is uploaded you will see a two minute video encompassing your Facebook social life in a museum exhibition form.

The end result is commendable and compelling, and you can share it on Facebook of course, as well as upload it in album form to your account and wall. The Museum of Me is a nice visualization of your Facebook account that aims to make your social circles come to life, but it’s cute at best. Let’s not forget who’s seeking fame here, right?

Weekly App: TOUT – Video Status Updates Made from Your Mobile

TOUT – This week’s chosen app, TOUT, offers real-time video status updates posting from smart phones. As opposed to Twitter, TOUT is about “Life as it Happens” in full color, sound and motion.” The short video updates are called Touts, and offer a much richer feed of info, unlike written status updates on Facebook or Twitter.

As you can see in the image above, one of Tout’s most famous users is Shaquille O’Neill who, as TOUT claims, announced his retirement exclusively via the application on his mobile phone. Other popular users on TOUT are worth exploring and following as well. There’s no doubt video status updates are more interesting than textual ones, but I seriously hope TOUT will be successful where other video micro-blogging tools such as 12Seconds have failed. Currently TOUT is available on the App Store and will soon be available for the Android and iPad as well.

To learn more about TOUT, watch this video.

VideoBash – A Hot Spot for Funny Videos Online

VideoBash – This is a video site claiming to be “a comedic video website…that combines the brilliant idea of user-generated content along with original, licensed and exclusive content.”

Each featured video on VideoBash has, just like any leading video site, user ratings and displays the number of views thus far. And since this site claims to have the funniest videos online today, I thought I’d put this promise to the test. Here’s a good one I found under ‘Recent Videos.’

DailyViral is a great spot for relaxing your mind and taking a quick break from your hectic schedule. Here’s an example of what you’ll find on DailyViral.

Videolicious – This free app will make you a pro film creator, thanks to the app’s genius technology and fabulous interface. Videolicious takes your chosen videos, pics, music and voice narration you took with your iPhone, and creates “a finished video, edited and layered together like a professional video editor- automatically!”

MSNBC Powerwall – The Gossip on the Day’s Movers & Shakers

MSNBC Powerwall – The media giant MSN has come up with a refreshing, upbeat approach to present and talk about the day’s news figures, whether related to politics, culture, entertainment or business -the ‘power players’ of the day’s events. With a strong emphasis on visually pleasing interface, the Powerwall offers dynamic pages which create an orderly image dance once a particular story is chosen, allowing for the desired news story to catch the page’s central space.

What Powerwall essentially offers is a sexy one-stop place that gathers the hottest stories from the entire network’s news programs and channels. The end result is impressive, and as previously mentioned, nice on the eyes as well. Looks promising for now. Here’s what TODAY’s story (on video) about William and Kate coming to America looks like.

BBC Earth: Life is – Meet Your Planet and Discover its Amazing Stories

BBC Earth: Life Is – The British Broadcast Company is famous for its nature documentary series and films, and we have all come to know Sir David Attenborough, the avid naturalist, acting as the engaging narrator of many of BBC’s nature productions. Now BBC Earth, with a huge repertoire of footage and content related to the natural environment and planet Earth, invites us all to explore our world like never before.

Explore nature in a totally new mesmerizing way, through images and videos of nature, filmed human stories, and see it all from the filmmakers’ point of view. To browse the vast world of content available on Life Is, click ‘search for more stuff’ which will bring you to this page (see below), where you can search by climate conditions, color, media type and more. Come and meet your planet right here on BBC Earth. You will be amazed!

Musictonic – Video-Based Music Discovery Engine

Musictonic – Here’s a cool music consumption and discovery site based on videos. Musictonic allows you to “watch music videos and discover new artists, automatic continuous playback and other awesome stuff.”

Although I can’t declare Musictonic a game-changer, it is a cool place to visit to listen to your favorite artist, to discover related singers and bands using the right menu list, and to share each video on Facebook and Twitter. Each search prompts an automatic continuous play of the chosen artist’s videos, and you have the entire video list on the same page for your convenience. Here’s where my ‘David Bowie’ search took me:

YouTube First Orbit – Celebrating 50 Years of Human Spaceflight

YouTube’s First Orbit – On April 12, 1961 Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin was the first human to fly into outer space and complete an orbit around planet Earth. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of one of humanity’s most important milestones, YouTube created a compelling movie,  “a real time recreation of Yuri Gagarin’s pioneering first orbit, shot entirely in space from on board the International Space Station. The film combines this new footage with Gagarin’s original mission audio and a new musical score by composer Philip Sheppard.”

First Orbit is a poignant film unlike anything you’ve seen before. It is a well-documented piece of history everyone should enjoy and cherish.

Cute Roulette – Random Videos of Sweet Non-Human Babies

Cute Roulette – Another player in the “oh, that’s so cute!” category websites, Cute Roulette is a random cute video player where each video shows a baby animal of a different kind of animals doing super cute things (although kittens and puppies appear in many of the videos, there is a large collection of other animals as well ). This is a nice relief or coffee break spot if you have a busy day and need to relax a bit, or a nice resource to go to if you are thinking of adopting a pet… Here are a couple of super cute videos I found here on Cute Roulette. Enjoy.
