Stanfield’s Presents “The Guy At Home In His Underwear” – How do you increase people’s awareness of testicular cancer? You let the good-spirited and easy going Mark, a testicular cancer survivor, spend 25 days straight wearing nothing but his undies, while the whole thing is documented live (camera, audio), 24/7, and everyone can watch.
The entire project is not only about increasing our awareness of testicular cancer; it’s about helping out: “If he [Mark} can get 25,000 followers, and last 25 days, Stanfield’s will donate $25,000 to the Canadian Cancer Society in support of testicular cancer awareness.” There are currently well over 35,000 followers and counting, which is great but not enough; Stanfield’s set a new goal – securing 50,000 followers will score even more $$ to the Society, $50,000 to be exact.

The Rat Race Trap – This inspiring blog by Stephen aims to provide us with “the tools and information you need to improve your mind, your body, and escape the rat race.” Stephen, a self-proclaimed former workaholic, started this blog out of the altruistic intention of sharing his saner life approach in this crazy world we live in.
Another high scoring Weekly Blog, the Rat Race Trap offers superb content that we can actually turn into practical lifestyles and mode of thinking. I recommend starting with the Must Read post list on the right. That’s where I found the fascinating article, “A Values-Based Approach to Goals.” I intend to regularly visit this blog and I suggest you do the same.
ChickRx – Up until now, I would go to several sources for information on the different aspects of my life as a woman: I would visit WebMD or MayoClinic for gynecology, psychology and relationship blogs for mental balance and relationships, and various nutrition and fitness sites to keep fit.
Now, thanks to ChickRx, I can get all the info I’ve described above in one easy and fun to visit site. ChickRx offers solid articles and posts on gynecology and sex, fitness and nutrition, emotional health and relationships, dermatology, and general health. In addition, the site has other perks such as Heads Up (interesting facts and studies) and Chicks’ Picks, among others. One of the articles I enjoyed reading is Cool Guy Syndrome. Exercise TV – Searching for fitness and exercise guides on the Web is easy -there are thousands of sources out there. But Exercise TV truly is a hardcore, no nonsense fitness resource you’d better tune into, because if you’re serious, really serious about losing weight and keeping it off, Exercise TV is your godsend helper.
Just by exploring their Video section, one gets the sense that Exercise TV is dead serious on doing it right, and physically challenging your body to get long-term results while keeping you healthy. Although not all content on Exercise TV is free (extensive workout plans are available for $$), there are many videos and information you can use without any obligation whatsoever.
I’ve never really given kick boxing a chance, and I think it’s time to move on to something that’s high-paced and challenging. See the video that inspired me, below. Be sure to consult your physician before your workout using Exercise TV.
MyFitnessPal – This is another ambitious calorie tracking and fitness site on a mission to help its users lose weight and keep it off. According to MyFitnessPal, the site focuses “on making sure you can log your meals as quickly and easily as possible. Because the easier we make it for you, the more likely you are to stay on track, and the more likely you are to succeed in your weight loss goals.”
Their mission is commendable but I’m always a bit suspicious when it comes to online fitness journals/diaries. As I see it (and please take this with a grain of salt), most people find it more tedious to keep logging back to the website and fill in their daily diet/exercise information rather than, say, follow a fitness plan with an actual buddy.
I absolutely salute MyFitnessPal for the effort, the offered tools and the great free service. They certainly have done all they possibly can to invite people to a healthier lifestyle. I have my own weekly plan of exercise and food intake and I don’t need a Web aid to stay fit, but that’s just me. I guess you’ll simply have to try it out to see for yourself. See the screen shot below for some of the offered tools on MyFitnessPal.

Get Fit Slowly – This insightful fitness blog is brought to us by the pseudonym writer MacDaddy, a stay at home dad of two kids. MacDaddy shares with us his journey of losing weight, including all the struggles and successes he encounters along the way.
Get Fit Slowly is not about losing those extra pounds as fast as possible. It’s about a sensible and healthy weight watching and fitness lifestyles that make a difference the natural way. To start off, I suggest you check out the popular posts section -it’s where I found the informative post on Learning to Use Heart Rate Zones for Exercise. Another great feature Get Fit Slowly offers is meal suggestions that are both tasty and healthy for you, under What’s For Dinner. See the pic below of the delicious Salmon and Fennel with Roasted-Lemon Vinaigrette.
