MTVNHD Experience – MTV has created a cool music project that invites you to pick your music style (club, metal, hip-hop, pop and rock), upload a photo from your computer or take one using your webcam, and star in your music video of choice. The high definition video clip is amazing, and it’s always rewarding to see yourself at the center of the action, with the dance girls swirling around you. Can you guess who is my star in the screen shot below? Hint: he loves snow and reindeer.

Going – Find cool things to do, see and discover in your city with Going, a one-stop place for cool attractions suiting your going out cup of tea (or beer). Although the beta version of Going starts off with NYC as the default location, there are 30 US cities to choose from.
The great part about Going is that you can search for fun things to do by checking activities and events’ popularity (what people like the most) so you don’t have to start wondering if a certain event is as promising as it seems or if it’s a flop. In addition, the Going platform allows you to meet new people seeking the same activities you are looking for, hence putting together people with the same areas of interest.
Other Going perks include popular places, Going deals (for members only), top searches, browsing by categories (nightlife, music, culture and more), and there’s even a mobile app that comes in handy when you’re out in the street looking for something fun to do. Going will show you what it really means to make the most out of what your city has to offer!
FoldingStory – Remember that fragmented storytelling we used to play as kids in school where one kid would begin with a sentence and each subsequent participants would add another part? I loved it because there was always a surprising turn to the story, usually a funny one. FoldingStory is based upon the same group storytelling concept, only the group is all users out there. To enter your ‘fold,’ sign up.
To help you get started, FoldingStory recommends visiting the help page, or checking out a few of the finished stories before you begin. This is my favorite – group collaboration at its finest!
mySpoonful – Playing on the small dose metaphore, mySpoonful introduces small music bites -one independent artist at a time, three times a week- to “busy people.” Each post includes a photo and a bio paragraph about the artist, along with a free mp3 track for users to listen to and download if they wish.
mySpoonful reminds me of another website, One Track Mind, also offering a bite-sized dose of independent music discovery experience. mySpoonful’s content is outstanding, and it’s nice to read meaningful and inspiring paragraphs by professionals who really understand the music industry. This is a must stop if you ask me. Here’s my top pick on mySpoonful, Pepper Rabbit, a band from Silverlake, Los Angeles with their beautiful track Older Brother, which I already downloaded of course!
YouTube Ad Blitz 2011 – Even if you’re a TV commercial hater like me, you’ll agree the ones aired during the Super Bowl game are entirely different than the ones aired throughout the year -which are boring and uninspiring in most cases. YouTube continues its annual tradition with the Ad Blitz, a showcase of all the Super Bowl game commercials for us to cherish and share.
Which TV commercial was your absolute favorite? I couldn’t decide between these three:

Qwiki – What’s your usual research method online when you want to learn more about something or someone? Google? Wikipedia? These two and other Web search tools will most definitely direct you to relevant resources, but I would like to suggest an innovative website that goes about information consumption with an entirely different approach: Qwiki.
Typing a search word or phrase in Qwiki’s search box prompts a wonderland of visually presented information including photos, maps and data that are accompanied by both vocal narration and text. The end result is an engaging presentation on whatever you’d like to learn more about, be it historical figures, events, monuments, animals, even locations and businesses. Start by searching for your hometown on Qwiki and see what I mean. Another example is the one below of the famous philosopher Aristotle. Click the image below to see it.
NFL Super Bowl XLV – Many of us have been waiting all year for this event, and on Feb 6 it will become an adrenalin-fused reality; Pittsburgh Steelers will go against the Green Bay Packers at the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, TX . Whatever team you are pitching for, the Super Bowl is all about great entertainment, lots of nachos and salsa (that’s how I roll), and of course, the best TV commercials of the year.
While the Green Bay Packers have three Super Bowl wins under their belt, the Steelers have six. However, the super game on Sunday can turn out either way. May the best team win!
I have only two questions on my mind though: Will President Obama attend the Super Bowl this year? And which TV commercial will top the charts? According to Chiff.com, Fox will continue the record-breaking trend of charging Super Bowl spots for $3 million per 30-second commercial.
Here’s one of Doritos’ Super Bowl 2011 Finalists:
Jelly Shot Taste Kitchen – What started out as a medium to keep friends and family updated on their new jelly shot endeavors soon became the super cute and tasty blog, Jelly Shot Test Kitchen. The two sisters behind the colorful jelly drinks, Michelle and Amy, work wonders and take jelly to a whole new level, and this blog documenting their creations was picked as one of the Weekly Blog winners.
The photos you will find on Jelly Shot Test Kitchen (plus recipes of course) are so beautiful I feel taking a bite off of these would be a crime, virtually destroying a masterpiece. I will let the photos speak for themselves. Click on the images to go to their respective post and recipe, and you will then understand why this blog was mentioned in gourmet magazines such as Saveur.com.
Santa’s Hat Jelly Shot:
P.S. The Jelly Shot Test Kitchen recipe book will be released by Running Press in May 2011.

Bloginity – One of the most prevalent website categories online today is that related to ‘entertainment’. There are hundreds if not thousands of gossip and celebrity sites and blogs, TV and film sources and many others under the entertainment umbrella. Standing out in this overcrowded arena is not only difficult, it’s almost impossible. But one particular site has managed to do just that with tons of style: Bloginity.
