The Perfect GIF is a Tumblr-based GIF search engine with official content from Hulu.
GIFs have been one of the most popular forms of images on the web for years, but they’ve recently exploded in popularity. Reaction GIFs have basically become a new form of online communication. Many reaction GIFs are created by users using clips or images from movies and TV shows, but often the quality isn’t as strong if it could be if it came from an official source. The Perfect GIF is one such official GIF search engine, created by Hulu and featuring the video streaming platforms own content. The site launched recently, but it already features more than 1,700 GIFs that have been shared more than 5,000 times.
Hulu’s video library is large, so the content on The Perfect GIF is incredibly diverse. You can search for GIF by show — choosing great clips from both old and new shows like Saturday Night Live, 3rd Rock From The Sun, and Empire. There is also a distinction between Action GIFs (like Lucille Ball cleaning her house) and Reaction GIFS (like Leslie Knope laughing). Each GIF has a tag like #Disappointed or #Denied, making it easier to find what you’re looking for. The GIFs are also split across categories like LOL, Current TV, OMG, Fail, and Swag. Some might think that a major media company creating its own GIF library takes away from the spirit of GIF creation, amounting to nothing more than an advertisement for the shows on its platform. The #Hulu in the corner of each GIF is, in fact, somewhat distracting. There’s no denying, however, that people would be making GIFs out of these shows anyways. At least by using The Perfect GIF you know you can find high quality content to share around the web at the perfect moment.
