If you’re an outdoors type, AllTrails is definitely a website for you to try: When it comes to finding trails, camping, mountain biking and hikes near you (in the US), AllTrails is as definitive as it gets.
Since it joined up with National Geographic and invested big bucks in a beautiful, new design earlier this year, AllTrails has proved itself as a real go-to for any American looking to find something outdoorsy to do over the weekend. It’ll be rolling out globally later this year too.
With an index of over 40,000 trails in North America, AllTrails is extremely comprehensive. It boosts its database with crowd-sourced efforts from its half-a-million users, so if an outdoors trail you love isn’t listed, you can contribute to the grand project and get it on there.
AllTrails is mobile-friendly too (with iPhone and Android apps, and a mobile website to come), which of course is the most useful aspect of the whole service: Having a more accurate, trustworthy map of the trail you’re about to hike, available on your mobile is exactly what any modern hiker needs! The partnership with NatGeo means AllTrails can offer a premium yearly subscription with higher standard mapping from National Geographic, GPS routes for trails and discounts with retailers.
