Tookapic helps you develop a habit of daily photo-taking in a fun and addictive way.
Tookapic encourages you to accomplish the simple yet rewarding goal of taking one picture every day for an entire year. After creating an account with the site, Tookapic asks you to upload a photo from your computer. You can then explain what’s in the photo as well as the sotry behind it. You can also add tags, as well as a location that displays the image on a community map. You can even add a watermark if you don’t want your image to be reused by others elsewhere online. If you do want others to use your photo, you can make it available for download or for sale.
Because tookapic has a strong community of talented photographers, the majority of the images are of a much higher quality than what you might be accustomed to seeing on photo-sharing apps like Instagram. The site might have worked better, however, as a mobile app (simply because it’s easier to get in the habit of taking and uploading a photo from your device rather than from your computer). Still, the quality of the photographs and the strong community of users makes the browser version of tookapic worth signing up for. Each user has his or her own profile with all daily photos displayed, and users can comment on each other’s images. It’s also a great motivational tool to get started on your own photo-a-day project, and tookapic lists a ton of great reasons why you should do just that.
