Selfie360 is an app that allows you to create 3D animated pictures using your smart phone camera.
Now that “selfie” is an official word of the English language (according to Merriam-Webster’s 2013 addition to its annual dictionary, at least), it’s time to take pictures of yourself to the next level. Selfie 360 is an iOS and Android app designed to do just that. The app, which was created by Egos Ventures (the company responsible for the innovative panoramic photography app), allows users to do just that. The app uses your smart phone camera to create 3D animations of your selfies. If you’ve wanted to take pictures of yourself and your friends, or just yourself by yourself, with more than just one, flat, angle — this is the app for you. Although the service is more goofy than a serious app that demands to be on your phone’s hard drive, it’s definitely fun to pay around with. Also, it’s free, so there’s no risk in downloading it and trying it out.
Three New Selfie Options.There are a few different options for how to capture your 3D photographs using selfie360. The first method results in a “Portrait Selfie,” or an animated 90 degree rotation of your portrait. This provides more depth than traditional smart phone photography, but it’s also the most simple type of picture offered by selfie360. The next type of photograph is the “Panorama Selfie,” which uses 360 degrees of animation rather than 90 degrees. This category centers you in the middle of the scene, but allows the rest of the photograph to rotate around you. This one is pretty cool, but the best category is definitely the “Full 3D Selfie.” That option allows you to take a 360, 3D animation of yourself. Even though it’s in the app’s name, of course, you don’t necessarily have to take a picture of yourself to use selfie360. There are a variety of enjoyable uses for the app, which you can use to snap creative pictures of anything and everything.
