Unmapped is an online magazine dedicated to highlighting the places that have been “left off the map,” which basically means vacation, travel, business or adventure destinations that are not typically discussed. 
The site is organized like a traditional print magazine, with articles appearing only after “issues” are published. This allows the articles to remain focused on a consistent theme, a nice change of pace from news sites with constantly updating, attention-grabbing headlines. Issue 20, for instance, is called “Moving.” There are articles like “Moving Back to Nigeria In Thirteen Easy Steps,” as well as “Should You Move To Kenya?”
Mapping the World, One Issue at a TimeEvery issue in Unmapped is dedicated to a specific topic, and by clicking the ‘archive’ button at the top of the homepage, you can get access to the entire back catalogue of issues. Each of the articles is extremely well-written, and the typical length makes up for the lack of overall quantity. The site also makes great use of images, maps, and design, enhancing stories in ways that wouldn’t be possible in a print magazine. The writers also tend to approach their stories from a literary, first-person point of view, offering a perspective that differs from most travel publications. Anyone interested in the corners of the world that aren’t typically explored in the mainstream media should definitely bookmark Unmapped.
