Your Power is a site created by the World Wild Life federation that tells a story about the importance of clean energy through an interactive narrative.
To begin the story, you’re instructed to type your name. ‘Your Power‘ then instructs you to scroll down. As you do so, elegantly-designed cartoon animations occur in your browser as the site tells a story. There are text files, audio files, and even short videos incorporated into the story. The site takes a humorous approach to telling the story of fossil fuels, depicting the mass extinction of dinosaurs in as light a manner of possible (by including talking, cartoon dinosaurs). The story goes on to explain the danger of using fossil fuels as an energy source, an act which is one of the major sources of detrimental climate change.
As you scroll through the story, various Easter egg-type buttons pop up on the screen. You can click on these buttons to learn more about various sources of energy and other facts about the causes of climate change. The story includes detailed information about fossil fuel companies that profit off the dirty energy sources rather than considering the clean energy sources that could be better for all of humanity (and animals). The scrolling culminates in a cool, interactive game that allows you to act as the owner of a renewable energy company. The game depicts how many jobs and species using alternative energy sources can save, with limited financial risk. At the end of the entire thing, there’s the opportunity to contact your government and inform them of the importance of considering new, clean energy sources (in various governments throughout the world). The site is an important one to visit, and it presents useful information in a fun, enjoyable manner.
