Squirt is a bookmarklet that allows you to speed read any website at your desired words per minute using new reading technology (test it out on this page!).
Spritz Inc. is a company that has developed a software that allows users to read large blocks of text content in a short amount of time. It does so by isolating a single letter of a word and highlighting it a certain color. It then flashes these words one at a time on a single line, at whatever speed you desire (some individuals report being able to read up to 1,000 words per minute. There are several other companies that have incorporated a similar reading method into its technology. Based on this technology, Squirt.io has created a bookmarklet that allows you to read the content of any web page using this new speed reading technology.
Squirt can be installed as a bookmarklet on browsers like Chrome, Firefox and Safari. All that you need to do is drag the link hosted on the site to your bookmarks bar. When you visit an article hosted anywhere on the web, all you need to do is click the Squirt link in your bookmark bar and the text is displayed at the words per minute setting of your choice. Squirt is a cool application of the speed reading methodology that makes it easy and convenient to read huge blocks of text. After testing the technology on some lengthy articles, I was blown away by how quickly I could consume the content (yet still retain the information). I did notice a few glitches, however, as Squirt did not always display the entire block of text (it would stop before the article was actually finished). When this technology is fully formed, it has the potential to revolutionize the way we consume text. For now, Squirt is the easiest and best way to get started.
