Soulcrafting helps you book unique experiences with master craftspeople in your area or community.
Soulcrafting was created to make it easier to find expert craftspeople from which to learn a specific trade like screen printing or wood working. The site has several different packages depending on which craft interests you most. The screen printing category, for instance, results in a behind-the-scenes tour of the Alkaline Clothing Co. work space, along with the opportunity to meet founders Taylor and Taylor, screen print your own shirt and learn about the craft. While that option is limited to just the one experience, there are several categories — including homebrewing, jewelry, leather, metal, motorcycles, and dog houses — on Soulcraft with multiple options. You can choose from a variety of bicycle experts based on what biking craft you’d like to learn and experience.
The site also has a category called “Soulcrafting Concierge,” which allows users to build a custom Soulcrafting experience. Many of the experiences are offered in Colorado (the company is based in Boulder), but visitors from around the United States can find some sort of experience to schedule through the site. It’s an interesting way to meet new members of a community while learning about all the behind-the-scenes efforts that go into craft-making. It’s interesting for consumers to understand, for example, how furniture or beer is made. With each booking made through the site, Soulcrafting requires a $25 deposit that’s applied to the experience and refundable if it doesn’t work out. The site then coordinates with the crafstpeople and gets back to you with a specific time and date for your experience. Booking through the site is often cheaper than taking a trade class somewhere, and you get to meet new and interesting people along the way.
