TechCrunchTV – All the Tech Bliss You’re Used To, Live and Visual

TechCrunchTV – TechCrunch needs no introduction. If you’re not familiar with it, that’s a big no-no because they’re only one of the most prominent tech news providers out there. What’s new about TechCrunch however, is their latest addition, the TechCrunchTV site. Watch live news videos or check their huge data base of previous news coverage, interviews with important figures in the tech, Internet and communications industry, and other Silicone Valley movers and shakers. Even if you’re not involved in the technology field, visiting TechCrunchTV every now and then will be rewarding and interesting. See the video below, an interview with JibJab’s Co-founder Greg Spiridellis which I found insightful.

Crush the Castle 2 – Even after crushing and capturing Arcturia, the Redvonian King was still longing for more castles to crush. Rumor has it that King Blutias has built sturdier castles in his cluster of islands known as Crushtania the Redvonian King wants them crushed. The King has sent you, his Seige Master, and Halgrim his finest mason, to assemble the greatest minds in the land to destroy Blutias’s empire.

Kill Me! – Help the superhero ‘Invincible Man’, who has grown tired of his special ability to resurrect upon death. The building that guards his only cure (a drink that kills him forever) is protected with many dangerous sharp and pointy objects.

Quick Sand – Time is running out! Get to the exit before the sand gets you… Manuevre your way out of booby-trapped underground caves. The main trap is that sand’s flooding in, but it’ll introduce other stuff along the way.

Perfect Balance 3 – Time to drop the shapes once again. Stack and balance the shapes until the perfect balance is reached. Add extra gems once you completed the level to unlock new level packs.

Let It Glow – It is your task to connect the two energy sources and light the bulb by removing other objects.

Red & Blue Balls 3 – The red and blue ball return for one final adventure in which they must work together in order to progress through each level.

Construction Fall – Move objects in the physics world to knock all the beams and collapse them below the dotted line.

Blurst 2 – How quickly can you get through the complex and mind numbing levels of Blurst 2? React Quickly to the instructions! Play in 2 different modes: Classic & Action, have fun and play hard!

Farm Frenzy 3 – Farm Frenzy 3 Build up your farm as you plant grass and gather eggs and buy new creatures for your farm.

Space Madness! – Distress call from our exoplanetary mining station Obsidian XII – we’re sending YOU, the best fighter pilot in the Galaxy, to investigate. Long range scans indicate a severe systems failure, so be prepared for anything!

Good Noows – A New Way of Reading What’s New

Good Noows – Getting constant online updates on your topics of interest is the easiest thing these days. Making use of facilitation tools such as readers, RSS and email updates is so simple it’s rather redundant. But what if I told you there was a different news update provider out there, one which leaves all the other payers in the information dust? Say hello to Good Noows. This not-only-good-news platform is truly unique in terms of the options it makes available to users. Not only can you choose the news resources to receive updates from (Google news doesn’t allow this yet), but you can switch between an array of display modes to get the perfect visual experience you’re after.

The first screen shot below shows the source selection step (I just love setting my own selection of sources), on the topic of Environment. Naturally, there are numerous topics to choose from such as world and politics, money and finance, travel, you name it.

Another cool attribute Good Noows offers other news update providers don’t -Readers in particular- is the fast headline skimming. Since I’m subscribed to multiple online news providers focusing on technology and communication (TechCrunch, ReadWriteWeb and Wired), there are many instances where all three cover the same news story. That means I’m wasting time going over the same general update more times than I need. With Good Noows, all headlines are right then and there, so if you have any overlaps you notice them immediately. All these pluses, in addition to a sleek design, multiple display options and a lot of personal control over content sources make Good Noows a powerful and appealing news platform.

Quizlet – Mastering Any Topic with Paperless Flashcards

Quizlet – Created by the especially charismatic and talented college student Andrew Sutherland, Quizlet is your best online flashcards resource currently available. Quizlet offers a wide range of topics where you will find ready-made flashcards, or you can create your own. The visual layout of the flashcards themselves is what you’d expect (description and/or image on one side, the answer on the other), only it’s wonderfully done. Users can choose whether to have the question and the answer on the same side of the flashcard or, for realistic testing, having them on separate sides (‘click to flip” to see the answer).

Very soon you will see why this site stands out from other similar study sites. Hint: it has to do with the cool features of Web 2.0. To see Quizlet in action, here’s a screen shot of a series of flashcards testing your knowledge in birds (north American). This is how I got to know what is the name of this beautiful bird with a crunchy tail from the falconiformes order. To learn it’s name, visit Quizlet.

Crowdrise – Hyping Good Causes and Making a Difference

Crowdrise – The non-for-profit sector is a godsend, but in our overly capitalist society it often lacks the necessary publicity that yields large scale impact. Charities giving a large chunk of their donations to advertisement agencies is indeed a legitimate solution, but there is an even better and much cheaper one out there: Crowdrise offers elegant and super-powerful help to charities, fundraising projects and volunteering by offering users an array of exciting tools and options to choose from.

Create your own fundraising page, volunteer project and/or campaigns and share these around, or play your giving part by joining the active Crowdrise community; earn points for voting (these can be translated into $ donations!), win prizes and more. You can also do it the old fashion way and make a donation to a charity of your choice or to another cause and/or campaign you’ve seen on the site. In short, Crowdrise has turned the NPO sector on its head in terms of raising money, spreading the word of noble causes and inviting more people to help out, each in their own way. Crowdrise, you’re my good cause promotion hero!

Bleacher Report = Sports + News + Killer Content

The Bleacher ReportI’m hardly a full-fledged sports fan, and that’s a gross understatement. Excluding the 2010 Fifa World Cup and a little bit of the US Open every year, I never keep track of all the dramas that take place in baseball, football, basketball or any other sports field not mentioned here. The Bleacher Report, although covering both local and international sports news, is one place I will be visiting on a regular basis from now on. How come? Well, their content is so good it would be a mistake not to. In addition, they cover more interesting topics under the sports umbrella than the usual game stats, players’ contracts, and whose wife slept with what team’s quarterback.

Beautifully designed and easy to navigate through, the Bleacher Report is a wonderful and intelligent sports hub you should tap into even if you’re not a big sports person. I suggest starting out with reading some of the most commented posts (scroll down on the homepage), and see for yourself why I’m so impressed. Alternatively, you can click on the photo below to read a well-written article on the Top Five Underperforming Star Players in this year’s World Cup.

A Heart A Day – For the Love of Creativity

A Heart A Day – This Weekly Blog winner scored a hefty amount of visits during its week, so this is why it made its way to the Weekly Faves list. Thomas Fuchs, a NY based freelance illustrator/designer/artist creates a beautifully creative work of art every day, and each always has the shape of a heart included. No matter how much I try to describe Thomas’ talent, nothing will say it better than seeing it for yourself. Without further ado, see the two below and visit his wonderful blog for more awe-inspiring creations.
