Dishfolio – Food Portfolio That will Make You Drool All Over the Screen

Dishfolio – With the catchy motto “eat. share. drool.,” Dishfolio is a food-photography aggregator that, quite similarly to Food Porn and Food Gawker, showcases large thumbnails of mouth-watering dish recipes for you to enjoy, hence the portfolio association.

In terms of concept, Dishfolio goes where others have gone before, but the execution makes it all worth while. Dishfolio will bring lots of inspiring and yummy foods right to your screen, and you can get the recipe of all the posts by simply clicking on the image. Here’s an example of my favorite summer breakfast drink, Mango Lassi.

Weekly App: Trover – Geo-tagged Photos Tell Friends What’s Hot and Where

Trover – Our app pick for this week appeals to the sharing enthusiasts out there. Trover is “a social network that lets you share discoveries with friends and fellow explorers in a fun, visual way – all based on your location.” Although some users don’t appreciate the Trover-Facebook connection (you must grant Trover access to retrieve your Facebook account info in order to enjoy the app), it’s a fun interactive social tool to enjoy wherever you are, based on photo geotagging.

Want to share the cool bar you’re at with the world? Take a pic, share it with the Trover community and users will immediately know where the bar is located. Share whatever you’re doing at any given place, or find what other points of interest and activities Trover users have shared. Go ahead and give this app a try and don’t forget; sharing is caring.

Intel’s The Museum of Me – A Visual Romanticism of Your Facebook Account

The Museum of MeIntel invites you to create and marvel at a remarkable visualization of your Facebook account (including friends, photos, Likes, locations and more) in this amazing video made up of and about you. Sign in with Facebook and grant access to the Museum of Me. Once the data is uploaded you will see a two minute video encompassing your Facebook social life in a museum exhibition form.

The end result is commendable and compelling, and you can share it on Facebook of course, as well as upload it in album form to your account and wall. The Museum of Me is a nice visualization of your Facebook account that aims to make your social circles come to life, but it’s cute at best. Let’s not forget who’s seeking fame here, right?

The Burning House – What Would You Save from Your Burning Home?

The Burning House – The concept of this beautiful and inspiring blog -a winning Weekly Blog, in fact, by Foster Huntington– is simple: “If your house was burning, what would you take with you?” Each post is the submission of a different person showing quite aesthetically his or her must-have objects.

See what Luca Cavallaro, a 34 year old designer from NY has picked:

Name: Luca Cavallaro
Age: 34
Location: New York
Occupation: Designer
Website: http://officineottiche.tumblr.com/

List:

  • Alma Lou, she would even be enough.

If I have time:

  • Hard drive, for memories that my brain failed to store.
  • Sunglasses, I feel naked without them.
  • Wallet, a gift from my wife.
  • My father’s old camera, I promised him to take good care.
  • Sneaker, emergency orange.
  • In the black box, my vintage eyewear collection (favorite only).
  • Phone.
  • Vintage leather mask, in case I have to protect my face from the flames.
  • Dieter Rams alarm clock, I don’t wake up on my own.
  • Orange hummer, if i have to brake some windows during the escape.
  • Life buoy ring, in case of flooding. In Italy we say:” le sfighe non vengono mai da sole”, misfortunes never come alone.

To submit your own photographed list of items you would take from your burning house, submit your own post.

Simply Breakfast – Food-ography Blog Dedicated to the Day’s Most Important Meal

Simply Breakfast – Jennifer Causey loves cooking up breakfast dishes as much as she loves talking pictures, and that’s how this food-photography blog came about. If you want to expand your morning meal repertoire, Simply Breakfast is rich with new, healthy (for the most part) and yummy breakfast ideas you will love. No wonder this blog is one of the Weekly Blog winners. My only complaint is that I wish Jennifer would have made her breakfast recipes available – they’re too delicious to look at!

To learn more about Jennifer and her work as a photographer, click here to get to her professional site. If food is what you’re after, see the image below of my personal favorite breakfast ever!

MSNBC Powerwall – The Gossip on the Day’s Movers & Shakers

MSNBC Powerwall – The media giant MSN has come up with a refreshing, upbeat approach to present and talk about the day’s news figures, whether related to politics, culture, entertainment or business -the ‘power players’ of the day’s events. With a strong emphasis on visually pleasing interface, the Powerwall offers dynamic pages which create an orderly image dance once a particular story is chosen, allowing for the desired news story to catch the page’s central space.

What Powerwall essentially offers is a sexy one-stop place that gathers the hottest stories from the entire network’s news programs and channels. The end result is impressive, and as previously mentioned, nice on the eyes as well. Looks promising for now. Here’s what TODAY’s story (on video) about William and Kate coming to America looks like.

Photosynth – Create Your Own Panoramic, 3D Pictures

Photosynth – This cool photography tool by Microsoft invites you to create amazing panoramic, 3D photos using the digital camera you’re already using to take pics (mobile phone cameras work just as well). Although a program download is required, as is creating a Photosynth account, this powerful set of tools is so rewarding you won’t believe it’s free. In addition, your created 3D pics can be added to Bing maps, shared on facebook and even added to your website or blog.

The idea of creating 3D pictures with your mobile phone is phenomenal, although one can’t avoid the evident similarity between Photosynth and Google’s street view technology. Either way, I’m curious to know what effect will this concept have on the way we all take pictures in the future. Either way, here’s the full explanation on how to create mobile panoramas.

Now that we’re done with all the (justified) geeky raves, here’s an actual example.

Iconic Photos – The Picture Says it All

Iconic Photos – Captivating photos are mesmerizing, and this Weekly Blog winner offers a large collection of culturally and politically significant photos spanning across space and time. Each photo on this blog is more magnificent than the next, and each is accompanied by a textual explanation of its context. Disclaimer: Iconic Photos includes powerful, compelling photos that often consist of graphic images, so take that in mind before entering the blog. Having that said, here are two photos that caught my eye (and heart): The famous WWI Christmas Truce in the trenches, and the poignant story of little Elian Gonzalez.
