Fitango – Although the name suggests fitness support and inspiration, Fitango is here to help you reach your goals, whether in health and fitness, self development, finance, even your love life. Once you’ve signed up (use Facebook connect if possible – saves you the time of registering), go the the Plan store – the program collection neatly listed by categories. There you will find tens of action plans, many of which are free (paid plans range between $1.99 to $7.99).
Once an Actionplan has been selected, the Fitango site and expert team will guide you through the different steps toward your goal. In addition, the Fitango system allows you to connect with other Fitango community members and designate motivators to help you stick to your path. I decided to get in shape and explore the 8-Week 5K Training Plan for Beginners. What’s your goal? Try Fitango and you’ll find how easy it is to pursue it.
Craftaholics Anonymous – Linda, a sweet creative woman and a mother of two, created this blog as her means of channeling her obsession with crafts. This is her Web space for sharing her ideas, inviting others to do the same, and providing readers with an abundance of inspiring craftology activities. This is one of the Weekly Blog winners of course. Click the images below to see what posts I enjoyed the most on Craftaholics Anonymous.
UJAM– This innovative website is essentially a “new technology platform which everyone can use to compose, produce, and publish their own music. Share your musical creativity with your friends and music fans around the world!”
Making use of UJAM’s full list of features would take a pro, it seems, but if you’re into music, this is definitely the place for you to practice your DJ and composing talent. As much as I would have liked to create a cool jam, my efforts came out disappointing, to say the least. But I’m sure you could do much better. After you log in, start with the Getting Started section and then proceed to the Application – where the magic happens.
JayCut – With the ambitious goal of making videos like putty in the hands of users, JayCut offers free online video editing service that invites users to become fully engaged with videos rather than simply watching them.
Create and edit your very own video and edit it like a pro with JayCut’s easy and intuitive editor. This software is completely free, and it saves time so you can create your masterpiece in no time! To learn more about JauCut’s online editor, I recommend exploring the demo (click the image below).
TuneCrank – Do you have a band and think it’s time to stop rehearsing in your parents’ garage and expose your music to the world? Check out TuneCrack, a free service that helps independent musicians and artists to reach audiences online.
TuneCrank “finds, ranks and streams the best independent music out there for the whole world to hear.” Visitors can listen to each uploaded track and rank it (you can choose between ‘awesome’ – the hand gesture for rock, thumbs up or thumbs down). In addition, you can see each track’s play count, and if you click the plus sign to the right of each track box, you will see how users have ranked this song thus far. I played some tunes here on TuneCrank and I loved it. See the site’s current #1 song, Sweet On You by Johnny’s Body.
ShelterPop – Another great blog from AOL Lifestyle, ShelterPop is here to make your home and everything within it, as wonderful as possible. The blog offers ideas, inspirations and how-to’s in numerous categories, including per-room suggestions, famous homes, design & architecture, storage & cleaning, gardening, fun stuff (crafts, parties, etc.), experts and video.
Like all Aol’s other blogs, it’s really fun to explore the various content offered on ShelterPop. Each section is armed with the right amount of images and commentary to persuade you to do something at home. My favorite post on ShelterPop is 8 Easy Bathroom Updates on a Budget.
DIY Life – I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but AOL has recently emerged as a strong blog creator in practically every lifestyle field. DIY Life is no exception, and this blog constitutes an interesting and valuable resource for home improvement.
AOL’s DIY blog is neatly organized to allow you full access to its various sections: Kitchen & Bath, Know-How, Living Spaces, Outdoors, Crafts & Celebrations, and Experts (currently only featuring Eric Stromer). Explore this cool blog and I’m sure you’ll be inspired to renovate at least one area in your home. This cool post on the unusual uses of Vodka in your home inspired me to start cleaning my jewelry…
Young House Love – Sherry and John, a young married couple, have decided to take their first home experience and go public. Young and beautiful, Sherry and John document their renovation projects, their home, their baby daughter and everything in between.
This blog was a winner during its feature on the Weekly Blogs lineup, and reading a few posts on Young House Love will show you why. Excellent content, beautiful projects and that personal touch make this blog a must, even if you’re not house hunting anytime soon. We’re not the only ones who appreciate Young House Love; TV shows and magazines such as Real Simple, Do It Yourself and Better Homes have also taken interest in this young duo.
The picture below accompanies the lovely post The Benjamin Button-ization Of Our Style which I recommend reading. Enjoy it.
The B-Roll – To me it seems almost impossible to pursue a different creative project every day, from start to finish, and also document it in a blog. But that is exactly what Charlie Visnic, a motion picture editor by day and creative DIY-er by night, does with B-Roll. One of the top three Weekly-Blog-turned-Weekly-Faves, the B-Roll is all about innovation, creativity and mesmerizing off-hours projects.
The project diversity on this blog is amazing, and I can only imagine the intelligence and handyman skills Charlie possesses. See the video below of the creative project for Day 191: Music Box Melody-Maker.
