Bookshelf Porn – The Ultimate Eye Candy for Bibliophiles

Bookshelf Porn – This Tumblr blog is a visual mecca for book lovers worldwide or, as the blogger behind Bookshelf Porn explains: “A photo blog collection of all the best bookshelf photos from around the world for people who *heart* bookshelves.”

Even if you’re not a huge books buff, Bookshelf Porn is loaded with beautiful photos to check out. I recommend starting with the Editor’s Picks. Here are my personal favorites:

Toy Design Served – Gorgeously Designed, Innovative Toys

Toy Design Served – Another beautiful creation by Behance Network, Toy Design Served focuses on the amazing and captivating design of, well, toys -for both kids and child-at-heart adults. The focus here is on gorgeous design and innovation, and you will find these two characteristics in abundance on Toy Design Served.

Explore the gallery and vote for your favorite designs. Here are two examples of what I wish I had had as a kid.

Mitoza – Discover the Different Endings to this Whimsical Adventure

Mitoza – You start off with a small seed on the ground. Then you are presented with two options; a flower pot or a bird. Each selection you make prompts yet two more options and so forth. This mitosis-like game is brought to us by Gal, a young Israeli man who loves to create, travel and share his thoughts (Mitoza is the Hebrew pronunciation of the biology process).

Mitoza is a whimsical exploration of numerous possibilities, and I invite you to discover the many turns this fascinating story can take. Enjoy.

Carbonmade – Online Portfolio Service that is Surprisingly (and thankfully) Free

Carbonmade – Those of us working in the creative industries such as design, graphic design, styling, photography and other visual mediums will appreciate this free online portfolio service. As a visual professional, you need to provide solid work examples to lure more potential customers and to make a name for yourself. And what a better way to do so than by creating an online portfolio of your own, one that looks amazing and presents your chosen works in an easy, nice-to-look-at place. Carbonmade offers just that.

To get started, I suggest exploring some samples – my favorites are Bódis Árvai Tünde Photography and Bunny Pirates by the illustrator Meghan Stratman, respectively shown here below.

The free Carbonmade bundle allows a maximum upload of 35 images (which is more than enough for the average professional), and a paid track of $12 a month for those interested in showcasing photos, videos, flash projects and more, all ad-free. What are you waiting for? Sign up now!

They Draw & Cook – Illustrated Recipe Collection with Lots of Pizazz

They Draw & Cook – Brother and sister Nate and Salli are a wonderful talented team of design and illustration. What started out as an effort to recreate a tasty dish they had during a vacation soon sprung into Nate and Salli’s amazingly creative illustrated recipe blog, They Draw & Cook. Text based recipes are fine if you are already familiar with the dish. If you’re a first timer however, the text-only list of ingredients and how-to is downright boring and lacks that pizazz I’m often relying on to get me into the cooking groove.

They Draw & Cook is all about putting lots of color and good vibes into cooking, as the blog’s recipe collection offers illustrated recipes that take the cooking experience to a whole new level. Here are a few examples (click the image to see the full recipe in larger size):

Can’t get enough? Find another recipe. Is one of your kids an avid kitchen helper? Try out the Kids Draw & Cook. To submit your own recipe and artowrk, click here.

KNSTRCT – A Visual Journey to the World of Design

KNSTRCT – This fabulous digital magazine is a beautifully created ‘design central’ both industry professionals and casual observers will appreciate. KNSTRCT aims to be “a global hub of design and innovation, an online destination for art, interiors, architecture, fashion, travel and all other limitless definitions of ‘design’.” Does it live up to its mission statement? You bet. Their very homepage screams aesthetics in every possible way:

The homepage is made up of a collage of photos, each representing a separate article with a different artist or project in focus. Simply hover your mouse over one of them and it will become highlighted. If you prefer the more straight-forward way, simply use the menu on the top right and browse the KNSTRCT magazine by picking design type, industry, or use their open search.

The two photos below represent a couple of amazing articles I found here on KNSTRCT and wanted to share. The first is Lang Baumann Paints the Streets of Vercorin, and the second is The Gardens of Marqueyssac. Click the images below to see the full posts and hi-res photos.

Art Finder – Turning the Art World From Aloof to Social

Art Finder – The social Web has penetrated an array of fields thus far; business, food, entertainment, music and education, just to name a few. But the realm of art remained rather distant until now, and Art Finder is here to make art discovery, enjoyment and sharing easier then ever.

You can start your art discovery by picking your ‘best looking’ paintings out of two series of four, based upon which Art Finder will create a guided art tour for you with recommendations suited to your taste. Art Finder is a god send since it not only brings top quality art to the masses, but also provides exposure to artists and their works from all over the world. If you’re new to art, start with Art Finder’s style guide or, start exploring the various featured artists on the site. Whatever you find can then be shared with your friends via Facebook and Twitter.

For more art resources online visit our Education page and explore the Art Faveline.

Vandalog – Street Art 101

Vandalog – This beautiful street art blog celebrates urban creativity and street artists all over the world and in fact, it was a Weekly Blog here at All My Faves back in November.

There’s no better way to discover the wonders of Vandalog than by simply diving right in. Here are a couple of photos I found interesting, showing the art of Ian Francis (the post: Ian Francis at Joshua Liner Gallery).

Sufferrosa – Multi-Angled Interactive Web Movie

Sufferrosa – Described as “a non-linear, interactive Web-based movie,” Sufferrosa is a most artistic and creative neo-noir film created by Dawid Marcinkowski that will blow your mind and senses. You start off as a detective investigating the disappearance of a young woman, but the case’s details soon become bizarre and surprising. It is up to you to investigate and get any bit of information you can to solve the case.

Sufferrosa is a first of its kind Web-based film; it has over 110 scenes, three alternative endings, and takes place in 20 different locations. Dive right into it and soon you will come across the lady with the shotgun while on a quest to find out what happened to Rosa Von Braun (see below). Enjoy.

Hahahaha.fr – Laughing is Funny Everywhere

Hahahaha.fr – Embark on a noisy, exciting and above all, funny experience of mixing a variety of human laughs. This French site takes laughter and smiles to the extreme by matching keyboard buttons with laughs. Try it out for yourself. My personal favorite? Press B once all the faces load on the page.

Red Bull Street Art View – Street Art From All Over the World

Red Bull Street Art View – Another fantastic manipulation of Google Street View, the Red Bull Street Art View takes you to the otherwise hidden gems of street art and graffiti all over the world. Start with the ‘world map’ view (see below) and click on any red circle to zoom in to an area with a variety of street artworks.

Here’s an amazing Street View picture of a wall graffiti in Mexico City, Mexico:
