Crayon Blocks – Move it! Get the Red Out

Crayon Blocks – Your goal is to get the red block out of the blocks box, and make sure it has a clear path to the exit. Sounds simple, doesn’t it? Well, it’s easy at first, but as you progress you will have to find creative ways to move the vertical and horizontal blocks around to create a clear path for the red block.

YouTube Play – Bi-Annual Event of Mind-Blowing Video Creativity

YouTube Play – This bi-annual Creative Video event is an amazing project of YouTube in collaboration with the Guggenheim Museum and HP, “to discover and showcase exceptional talent working in the ever-expanding realm of online video.” Users all over were invited to submit their unique creative video, and currently the Guggenheim has narrowed it down to the top 125 videos, displayed on the YouTube Play Channel.

As a means to track the technical and innovative advances of users on the Web, the YouTube Play event happens only once every two years, and this makes it all the more special and exciting. Out of the current 125 finalists, up to 20 will be chosen by a jury of art, design, film and video experts. These winners will be displayed at the Guggenheim museums (NY, Berlin, Venice and Bilbao, Spain) throughout October 2010.

Want to sample some or all of the 125 videos that made it to the list? Simply visit the YouTube Play Channel, or start with Some of My Dreams by Tadas Vidmantas (categorized as Narrative), below, that I especially adored.

Climate Central – Macro, Micro Climate Change and Everything In-between

Climate Central – This godsend independent nonprofit organization offers the public with all the content, reports and statistics you could possibly imagine on climate change, global warming and energy. Climate Central, acting as a central authoritative source for climate change information, is beautifully designed and truly offers a comprehensive look at the causes, consequences and by products of climate change.

Bakerella – Fun, Easy and Beautiful Baking

Bakerella – This is one of the top three winning Weekly Blogs of the week of Sep 20, and no wonder; what started out as a personal endeavor to keep track of her baking and decorating attempts, Bakerella quickly became the amazing baking blog it is today. Bakerella is a must RSS for all baking amateurs and professionals out there, and I just love the yummy photos and easy step by step recipes she encloses with every post.

So who is Bakerella? We don’t have a name as of yet, but we do know she’s a lovely baking fanatic who took an introductory cake decoration class a few steps further (and thank God for that!). Give the aromatic and sticky-fingered baking world a try. Make cakes, cupcakes, pop-cakes, cheesecakes and many other baked goods, all with tested recipes of the brilliant Bakerella. See my next baking to-do for this week, this Easy Apple Cake. Pic below.

eBay LookBook – Shoot and Shop, In That Order

eBay LookBook – It seems every apparel brand these days offers some form of a look book on its site; there are also very successful sites which offer nothing but user-submitted looks and styles (such as lookbook.nu and the like). Well, eBay is using this fashion trend to its e-commerce advantage, and now, in collaboration with Lucky Magazine, offers the perfect platform to submit, rate and get feedback on your personal style. Why would eBay offer such a think for free? So you will get the urge to shop for more clothes of your taste, on eBay of course.

I believe eBay’s concept is genius. Although users are not by any means obligated to buy anything if they choose to use the LookBook platform, I know I would most certainly be tempted to buy something. The LookBook is easy to use, it’s very inviting and it’s open to everyone, so guys, feel free to submit your look as well. You can also simply browse the gallery, see which styles scored high and continue from there.

The Hot Word – Complicated Reporters’ Words, Simplified

The Hot Word – Dictionary.com, the Web’s most widely used reference, dictionary and thesaurus source, has recently created a fun extension; the Hot Word. Taking terms from current affairs and relevant news stories, the Hot Word is here to simplify complicated words while adding in a little bit of context and interest.

To show you the Hot Word in action, let’s take the recent ‘bigot’ remarks that cost CNN’s Rick Sanchez his job; the Hot Word dives deep into the term “bigot” and not only gives its definition, but also provides a brief etymological account of the word’s origin and history. For another example, see why bankruptcy is often referred to as Chapter 11.

The Rat Race Trap – Sane Living in an Insane World

The Rat Race Trap – This inspiring blog by Stephen aims to provide us with “the tools and information you need to improve your mind, your body, and escape the rat race.” Stephen, a self-proclaimed former workaholic, started this blog out of the altruistic intention of sharing his saner life approach in this crazy world we live in.

Another high scoring Weekly Blog, the Rat Race Trap offers superb content that we can actually turn into practical lifestyles and mode of thinking. I recommend starting with the Must Read post list on the right. That’s where I found the fascinating article, “A Values-Based Approach to Goals.” I intend to regularly visit this blog and I suggest you do the same.

The B-Roll – Daily Creative Project Blog

The B-Roll – To me it seems almost impossible to pursue a different creative project every day, from start to finish, and also document it in a blog. But that is exactly what Charlie Visnic, a motion picture editor by day and creative DIY-er by night, does with B-Roll. One of the top three Weekly-Blog-turned-Weekly-Faves, the B-Roll is all about innovation, creativity and mesmerizing off-hours projects.

The project diversity on this blog is amazing, and I can only imagine the intelligence and handyman skills Charlie possesses. See the video below of the creative project for Day 191: Music Box Melody-Maker.
