iMeet – Making Better and Easier Video-Conference Meetings Online

iMeet – Promising your very own personal meeting room online, iMeet is here to make video conference calls as enjoyable and effective as they can possibly be. Aside from worldwide accessibility and multiple device compatibility, iMeet allows for conference video meetings made up of up to 15 people, and whenever someone speaks, you will know exactly who it is as their cube will start to glow.

Although this is a paid service (offering free trial), it’s free for the people invited to the meeting. Other perks iMeet offers is social media stuff such as bio and pics, chat, privacy options, background customization and other sweet ‘make it my own’ features. iMeet has gained lots of attention from the tech community, apparently for a god reason.

So, is it worth checking out? Oh yeah. Looks amazing, offers a rewarding bundle of perks and features and it does the job.

Storify – Storytelling is Real When Shared Online

Storify – This unique site would not be the best choice for online privacy advocates, as it offers free sharing of stories “using social media such as Tweets, photos and videos.” This is possible via searching multiple social networks from one spot and then adding “individual elements into your story.” You can then embed your story in your site or blog.

A solid example is always the best way to see a site in action. Here’s the story Man tracks stolen laptop hundreds of miles away, calls thief:

Jog.fm – Celebrating the Happy Marriage of Workout and Music

Jog.fm – If you don’t listen to music when you work out, it’s a shame because you’re missing out on lots of physical benefits such as better mood, better lungs and a more enjoyable workout, among other sweet positive side-effects. Jog.fm is here to make the marriage of workout and music even happier, and offers ready-made playlists for joggers, cyclists and walkers.

As an avid cyclist, I immediately took interest in Jog.fm’s playlists for riders (see screenshot below), and I must admit, it’s impressive. Available playlists can be bought (for download) or listened to online. In addition, you can always create your own playlist, but I don’t see the added value of creating a new list on an external site if you already have it on your iPhone or MP3 player. Either way, Jog.fm offers a great service and I truly believe music and workouts are a match made in heaven. I only wish they had a mobile app available.

iCheckMovies – Where People Brag About the Movies They Watched

iCheckMovies – This movie-centric site invites users to create their movie checklist, keep track of the ones they’ve watched, and then lets them to brag about it to their friends. Seems a little ego goes a long way, and iCheckMovies certainly taps into that ‘acknowledge me’ syndrome that is increasingly present in social network interactions.

So what’s the point of iCheckMovies? Well, based on the check list you created and the movies you’ve liked, the site’s system better recommends movies to other users. Although I think I might be too old for iCheckMovies, it certainly offers a point of interest to the teens audience.

Here’s more on how iCheckMovies works:

Cut Out + Keep – Craft How-To’s. Lots of Them.

Cut Out + Keep – With over 11,000 Likes to date, this site probably does something right. The craft site offers a colossal collection of make-it tutorials, from hats and jewelry to tea strainers, furniture and accessories. Think of Cut Out + Keep as the Etsy how-to hub.

The vast number of categories and sub-categories seemed overwhelming at first, but once I found something interesting, I decided to share. Actually, I think I will be making this Cat Hammock next weekend.

Defringe – The Home for the Web’s Best Creative Stories

Defringe – This minimalistic-looking site is actually bursting with rich creativity, and it offers a wealth of inspiring posts showing today’s innovation in a variety of fields, including advertising, illustration, music, product design, typography and many other fields. Defringe is an elegant, sophisticated design and talent hub that is packed with cool ideas and products. It wasn’t a Weekly Blog winner for nothing.
Here’s an interesting post I found in Defringe’s Product Design section: Miniot, innovative and organic solution to protecting the iPad.

You Grow Girl – Making Organic Gardening Fun and Easy for Everyone

You Grow Girl – To me, gardening always seemed to be a field too complex to understand, let alone implement at home. My mother is an avid gardener who actually knows by heart the Latin taxonomy of many East Coast plants and trees., which kind of puts me to shame, but now with Weekly Blog winner You Grow Girl, all that is about to change!

This wonderful gardening community, created by Gayla Trail back in 2000, is a “contemporary, laid-back approach to organic gardening” you should definitely explore, particularly if your green patch is spatially-challenged (i.e. the size of a closet). Find lots of gardening ideas you can implement at home, including produce you can grow and eat! Here is a good example:

DailyViral – The Best Entertaining Videos, Served Daily

DailyViral – One cool video a day is a simple yet appealing concept and DailyViral does it well. Each day a certain video will be showing on DailyViral’s homepage, and you can also see what videos were picked for previous dates.

DailyViral is a great spot for relaxing your mind and taking a quick break from your hectic schedule. Here’s an example of what you’ll find on DailyViral.

The Most Awesomest Thing Ever – The Long Name for ‘Daily Cool Picks’

The Most Awesomest Thing Ever – When such a ludicrous superlative is used for a site’s name I use extra caution and criticism. Could it be that TMATE truly encapsulates the best things ever? I doubted it, therefore I took the site for a test drive. The site offers the familiar slam between two cool ideas, actions or persons. Users pick their favorite which helps to determine each candidate’s overall score.

To be honest, the name does come across as a bit pretentious, but TMATE’s basic idea and entertainment factor make it a decent time waster. Here’s what it looks like:

Cruiser – An Exciting Battleship-Like Game

Cruiser – The old school Battleship game will always remain a favorite strategy competition, and here’s an even more exciting game based on the same bomb’em and sink’em concept. Start Cruiser with selecting and positioning your ships, get ammo and go to battle! Cruiser is highly addictive so keep that in mind. For more exciting games visit our I ♥ GAMES page.

Weekly App: Videolicious – Making Mobile Videos an Art in Itself

Videolicious – This free app will make you a pro film creator, thanks to the app’s genius technology and fabulous interface. Videolicious takes your chosen videos, pics, music and voice narration you took with your iPhone, and creates “a finished video, edited and layered together like a professional video editor- automatically!”

How does Videolicious work? See the funky video below which explains it all. This app is free and available on the App Store. Enjoy!

MSNBC Powerwall – The Gossip on the Day’s Movers & Shakers

MSNBC Powerwall – The media giant MSN has come up with a refreshing, upbeat approach to present and talk about the day’s news figures, whether related to politics, culture, entertainment or business -the ‘power players’ of the day’s events. With a strong emphasis on visually pleasing interface, the Powerwall offers dynamic pages which create an orderly image dance once a particular story is chosen, allowing for the desired news story to catch the page’s central space.

What Powerwall essentially offers is a sexy one-stop place that gathers the hottest stories from the entire network’s news programs and channels. The end result is impressive, and as previously mentioned, nice on the eyes as well. Looks promising for now. Here’s what TODAY’s story (on video) about William and Kate coming to America looks like.
