The Free Music Archive – Radio was always there (and still is) to offer the public free access to new music. The Free Music Archive is a direct derivative of that credo, designed for the age of the internet. The Archive offers an interactive library of high-quality, legal audio downloads. Every mp3 you discover on The Free Music Archive is pre-cleared for certain types of uses that would otherwise be prohibited by outdated copyright law. A good way to explore this site would be by checking out one of the site’s curators like WFMU and KEXP. Another way would be by browsing various genres like Jazz, Electronic or Rock. Using the latter method, I discovered I Was There – it was recorded back in 1986, and I thrive on the unique sound this song has to offer.
