The 50 States Project – The 50 States Project has brought together 50 photographers, each representing one of the states. During the year-long project (2009), each photographer will represent his or her respective state. Every two months the project’s team sends all 50 photographers an assignment by e-mail, after which he or she will have two more months to produce one image in response. The images must represent both the photographer’s style and state. The first assignment (“People”), was sent on January 2nd, 2009 and here are the 50 results for this particular category. Of all the “People” photos, my top three are Lisa Kereszi – Connecticut, Carmen Troesser – Missouri and Jared Soares – Virginia. The second assignment (“Habitat”), was sent on March 1st, 2009, which means pictures will be up around early May. The remaining 4 assignments will be announced on May 1st, July 1st, September 1st and November 1st 2009, respectively. By the end of the project there will be approximately 300 images which will hopefully represent the talent of the photographers involved and will have something profound to say about the contemporary USA.
