Mapstr is an iOS app that lets you save your favorite places onto a personalized map.
iPhone users have multiple options for mapping apps. The built-in app, Apple Maps, is less than ideal. Google Maps is better, but still lacks some important functions (like pin-dropping and sharing on Apple Maps). You can also use Waze for improved navigation. Mapstr is an app that does one thing but does it well: creates a personalized map of your favorite locations in your city. The app lets you save places to your map in a few different ways — either by your current location, by entering a name or address, scanning the address using your camera or clicking on a position on the map.
After you’ve added a place to your map on Mapstr, the app gives you all the information you need to know. 
If you’ve entered a restaurant, for instance, the app tells you the opening hours, ratings and other relevant information. With every place you add, you can also enter tags (“coffeeshop,” “nightclub,” etc.). This makes it easier to search for what you’re looking for at a later date. The app is incredibly useful for saving or remembering locations that you might otherwise forget. Google Maps has a similar feature of saving locations that you’ve searched for frequently, but it comes nowhere near to the functionality or usefulness of Mapstr. If you have to add one more mapping app to your life, this is the one you should download immediately.
