Check out Sebastian Wahlhuetter and his Urban Climbing Project, celebrating urban climbing and the ever curious human spirit.
Sebastian Wahlhuetter is an amazing photographer, particularly focused on outdoor activities such as Alpine photography, environmental topics or urban adventures. Passionate for 15 years, he gained a Master Craftsman’s Diploma in Photography in 2010. What’s more, he is holding a Phd in cultural anthropology, which gives a lot of sens to his visual work.
Buildering (mix between building and bouldering) or ‘urban climbing’ is the act of climbing on the outside buildings and other artificial structures. It is not exactly clear how authorities should deal with it because technically it is not forbidden to climb in an urban environment as long as no monument protection or private property are involved. This activity remains quite rare in the urban environment, so when Sebastian Wahlhuetter catches different moments of the climbing, the visual result is very impressing.
The project took place in Vienna, with the participation of amazing climbers, Bernd Zangerl, Jef Verstraeten and Andrea Maruna.
