IceBucketVideos.tv has compiled many of the notable ALS Ice Bucket Challenge videos, making them easily browsable and searchable.
In case your Facebook and Twitter feed isn’t already filled with videos of friends and celebrities dumping buckets of ice on their heads in the name of charity, IceBucketVideos.tv exists. The site has compiled a huge selection of ALS Ice Bucket Challenge videos, primarily of celebrities or fictional characters like the Simpsons. On the home page alone, you can watch Eminem and Rihanna, Robert Downey Jr., Lionel Messi, Patrick Stewart, Katy Perry and a host of other famous people support the charitable cause. The most intriguing aspect of the entire ice bucket challenge phenomenon is that individuals were encouraged to be creative with their videos, taking a unique direction to be entertaining while supporting a good cause. Many of the videos are available for comparison here.
2014 will go down in history as a strange time in which most of the Internet-connected world participated in the ice bucket activity together, and this site preserves that moment in time. Visitors can also submit their own videos to the site, which is useful considering celebrities weren’t the only ones getting in on the action this year. There’s even an Android app — which seems a bit like overkill, but can make browsing and watching the videos much easier. The ice bucket challenges has already decreased in popularity in recent weeks, and it’s unlikely that it will continue for much longer, especially amongst celebrities. Still, this site is a convenient way to watch how so many individuals supported ALS research and participated in an online phenomenon in unique ways.
