Findery is a free app that allows you to discover and share information about places around you and around the world.
Findery is an app designed to tell more detailed stories about the world around us. From “Castles of Germany” to “Dubai Roadtrips,” Findery is filled with travel stories from exotic locations around the world. Under each heading, users can upload a string of stories, pictures, and videos about their vacations or experiences in a particular place. On the “Dubai Roadtrips” page, for instance, there are photographs and short explanations of experiences from various locations around the UAE’s highway system. You can follow stories or share your own. Each of the posts are also trackable via a map view, which makes for a more visually appealing experience.
Findery is great for discovering stories about destinations far away, but it’s also useful for uncovering information about the places around you. Using the app’s map technology, you can add annotations to buildings or landmarks around you, adding to the stories of the physical world. You can also tag notes to a specific geographic location — the digital equivalent of leaving a note somewhere strange and hoping someone finds it. It’s an interesting online extension of the real world, and its both fun and useful to be able to read background information about particular locations as you’re walking past them or visiting them. It’s the quickest and easiest way to learn while you’re on the go, and the perfect use of technology to enhance our experience of the real world.
