GetYou is a social platform for revealing how the world gets you at first glance & how contacts grasp your personality characteristics.
GetYou is an app that lets users judge each other based solely on initial appearance before learning how closely their opinions aligned with the truth. It also allows you to see how others “get you” — that is, it allows you to see their initial opinions about your age, ethnicity, profession, and a variety of other characteristics. The site builds off a model similar to dating apps such as Tinder, in which each user has a profile picture that is displayed to another user. GetYou users are then given the opportunity to answer several questions about another user’s profile to give their initial, honest impressions.
The point of GetYou is to allow users to give unbiased, honest and personal feedback about the way people present themselves. Although that seems like it could lead to some unnecessarily mean comments or criticisms, the app was actually designed with the intent to connect people. If another user seems interesting, you can send a contact request. If that request is approved, then the two users can communicate via the app. You can also view how each individual viewed you when they filled out the survey about your picture, offering a mostly just fun/humorous but also somewhat informative experience.
