Fits.me has created a virtual fitting room for online fashion retailers that displays how clothes will look on potential buyers.
One of the most significant problems with the online fashion shopping experience is that it’s nearly impossible to tell whether or not clothes will fit you. Fits.me has solved that problem. The company has built a virtual fitting room platform that can be easily integrated onto the sites of online retailers. Several companies have already begun using the service, including UK fashion company Crew Clothing. On Crew Clothing’s site, you’re given the option to try an item on in the virtual fitting room. For a t-shirt, the only information Fits.me needs is your height, bust (if you’re a woman), waist, hips, and arm length. If you don’t know these figures offhand, the virtual fitting room has a link to a pdf of a tape measure for you to print out. After all of the information has been entered, the fitting room displays a virtual version of a person of your specifications, wearing with the item of clothing. It also explains whether or not the item you’ve selected will fit — or how it’ll fit (too tight, too loose, etc.). There’s also another, less-expensive option for retailers to implement called the “Fit Advisor,” which recommends sizes based on your specification, but does not provide an image of how the item will look on your body type.
Fits.me works directly with online retailers in order to create the best possible virtual fitting room for your company. According to the site, the process of creating a custom fitting room, with all of your company’s products available to be virtually tried-on, takes about 6-8 weeks. The current click-through rate of new customers to the virtual fitting room — those most unfamiliar with a retailers sizing — is 60%. Overall, that figure is around 20%, but it makes sense that those already familiar with a company’s sizing wouldn’t need to use the fitting room more than once. The most important aspect of Fits.me is that its service works, and most of the company’s retail clients appear happy with the service that it has provided. For buyers, the presence of virtual fitting rooms should be a welcome addition to the online shopping experience.
