Distractify is a new type of media site, offering viral content as well as lengthier articles.
Distractify is a media site made by the youth generation, for the youth generation. The site was founded by 20-year-old CEO Quinn Hu, an entrepreneur that truly understands the viral marketplace online. Although Hu is young, the site he has created is clean, professional, and highly addicting. Distractify organizes its content into five different categories— news, fun, culture, geek and people. When you click on one of the categories, a list of related links to articles appears. All of the articles hosted on Distractify are written by the site’s in-house team, and each offers something unique.
The best element of Distractify is the way it couples viral-oriented content with actual news. One of the top articles on the site at one point in time was “The 30 Most Spectacular Abandoned Places In The World,” a cool article that displayed some awesome pictures of strange locations around the world. Beneath that article was another with the headline “Google Acquires Boston Dynamics, The People Responsible For The Coolest And Most Terrifying Robots EVER.” While the slideshow article offered interesting, sharable content, the article about Google’s acquisition offers real tech news not typically found on other viral news sites. The site offers a great way to distract yourself online, but also an outlet to learn some things as well.
