Hillydilly is dedicated to unearthing new music, pushing only the best and ultimately connecting the average music fan to all the good music that’s out there.
Hillydilly is a music discovery site that prides itself on its curation services. The site’s staff hand-selects and pre-screens every track that appears on Hillydilly, ensuring that the quality of the song meets their standards. The site does not, however, discriminate based on genre. Electronic music, hip-hop, indie, pop, instrumental and several other genres are represented across the site. Because this is a music discovery site, most of the artists pushed by Hillydilly are relatively unknown. The site doesn’t cover new singles from popular artists, but it does try to find the lesser-known artists that the average music consumer will enjoy. Every once in a while, however, a more mainstream track or a remix of a popular artist will appear in one of the site’s playlists or charts.
Music discovery is an inexact science, a fact which Hillydilly acknowledges by offering several different methods of recommendation. The site lets you pick a curated playlist based on mood (happy, study, workout, etc.), which begins playing via a bar at the top of the screen. Most of the songs are streamed directly from Soundcloud. Hillydilly also offers charts listing new music and the most played songs on the platform. There are also well-written reviews posted by the site’s editorial staff, along with a few streamable tracks from the corresponding album. There’s a ton of music to be found on Hillydilly, and the site sets itself apart by having a clean design with easily browsable charts and graphs without relying on an algorithm for its discovery services. The personalized tone and emphasis on curation makes Hillydilly an exciting site to discover music across all genres.
