Sweat The Product offers a compilation of profiles of individuals who have built successful businesses, products or platforms online.
Sweat the Product is a collection of stories from people who build products online. The site is essentially like a digital business magazine, featuring interviews with individuals that have launched entrepreneurial ventures online. There are interviews with people such as Adii Pienaar, who founded WooThemes, and Marc Lizoain, who co-founded Urtak. The interviews, which were conducted by Spencer Fry — himself a programmer and entrepreneur — offer in-depth analysis behind all aspects of building a business. The aforementioned interview with Lizoain, for instance, offers insight into the emotions behind having to shut down a company that once seemed promising to be successful.
The design of Sweat The Product is simplistic, with each page focusing on one individual with a combination of photographs, text, and an interview that focuses on product design and development. The interviews are long but easy to read, entertaining and informative. The detail into which Fry delves with his interviews is reminiscent of a podcast, providing backstory and information that’s usually tough to find in a traditional magazine or blog. Although Sweat the Product was launched recently, it’s already proven to be one of the best sites offering editorial content about designers. It’s focused on content more than news or clicks — something that’s far too lacking in the tech content space. Look forward to seeing more interesting interviews from Fry and Sweat the Product in the future.
