Programmr is an online teaching tool for aspiring programmers as well as those that already know how to code that features cool contests and other games.
The ability to program is one of the most useful skills in the modern world. It’s also difficult to learn. Luckily, there are plenty of websites that exist online in an attempt to educate the masses about programming languages. Unfortunately, many of those websites aren’t great at what they aim to do. They’re either too difficult to understand or not fun enough to engage with. Programmr seeks to end that trend. The site offers instruction and improvement exercises in console languages such as java, C++, C#, Python, Ruby and SQL. It also offers courses in HTML/CSS, JS, PHP, AJAX, J2EE, Flash and Games, as well as Android and iOS development. Programmr allows uers to code, compile and run projects in these languages all from within the browser. This makes the learning experience much more fluid and easy.
Programmr offers not only programming instruction for beginners, but an opportunity for coding enthusiasts to interact with each other and showcase their skills. The website holds tons of awesome competitions and coding contests, each of which can be completed from within the browser. The site also makes it easy to share your newly acquired (or recently showcased) skills with other online communities. Programmr also features a “Project of the day” on its homepage, which consists of one of the coolest projects created by a programmer on the site. The first time I checked the site, for instance, a game called “Iron Man vs. Aliens” was featured. The game was created completely by a student using Programmr tools, and is accessible by the rest of the Programmr community. I’ve tried out several different online programming course tools and Programmr is definitely one of the best in terms of keeping users engaged with great activities and offering a wide range of languages.
