Traveling local just went global. Confused? Well then, I guess Gidsy has just reinvented the wheel! The web is full of travel websites that try to lure users into the dream of authentic travel experiences without actually providing. Gidsy, on the other hand, is busy changing the whole concept of authentic travel by democratizing it: Any local who thinks they have something interesting to offer a tourist, whether that be a guided tour or a fun activity, can do just that. What is more authentic then traveling like a local with a local?

What is Gidsy?

Gidsy is an online marketplace for authentic travel. If you are planning a trip to one of ”Gidsy‘s chosen destinations (so far only New York, London, Berlin, Amsterdam, Los Angeles and San Francisco…), you can choose from a list of local people offering tours and activities only they know of, in their home town. Whether you’re interested in history, urban exploring, shopping or sports, the category list will match your interest with the right local guide. The rates start from as low as 15$ p.p. to as high as the guide thinks their service is worth. If you find one of the tours or activities interesting, a full description of the activity is provided along with the persons time table, after all these are not professional tour guides and usually keeps a day job…
