Every Last Drop is an interactive website created to demonstrate how much water an individual uses each day.
Every Last Drop features cartoonish animation that move as you scroll down the page. Along the way, various facts are presented to educate you about the extremely high levels of water consumption that take place in modern society. It begins by explaining each individual in the UK uses around 150 litres per day. It then goes on to demonstrate how the typical person consumes that much water. The animation that follows takes the cartoon character through a typical day. The various activities that include high levels of water consumption may surprise you. T-shirts, for instance, require cotton, which requires water. According to Every Last Drop, 1kg of cotton equals 20,000 litres of water.
Food, coffee, drinks, and many other factors of every day life require a large amount of water. The amount of water that is wasted on a regular basis is staggering. According to the site, “one third of our water is lost through leaky pipes before it even gets to our homes.” At the end of the animation, the site drives home the point that, despite all the water that is wasted in developed countries such as the UK, there are still over 1 million people on Earth that lack access to clean water. At the end of the animation, the site also features a video that explains how you can help save the planet’s important resource of clean water. Every Last Drop was created in partnership with the organization Waterwise.
