The Ascender is a digital magazine that contains four detailed, well-written articles per issue and is completely accessible online.
The Ascender is a digital magazine offering a wide range of content regarding modern exploration. The site offers unique travel tips and advice for adventurous tourists and travelers. The Ascender differs from traditional online travel sites in that it models itself after a print publication by releasing its stories under overarching issues (rather than in the blog format). Thus far, there have been six issues of the magazine. Because The Ascender is modeled after magazines, its design is much more fluid than comparable blogs. The stories are lengthy and informative, and all of them include pictures and other visually-compelling elements.
The latest issue of The Ascender features stories and features regarding diverse locations throughout the world. There’s one detailed article about visiting Poland entitled “Warsaw Wandering.” There’s also an article called “What Lies Beneath” about the 3 million missing ships and treasures located at the bottom of the Earth’s seas (a timely article considering what’s currently going on with Malaysia Airlines flight 370). Issue 6 includes four articles, and all of them are browsable entirely for free. The Ascender Magazine site also features the option to browse the archives of past issues. Each previous issue also contains four detailed, well-written articles about a variety of subjects. Not all the articles concern travel (many of them simply highlight unique stories from throughout the world). If you have an interest in anything going on in the world, there’s a good chance reading The Ascender will teach you something new in an interesting manner.
