Craftsy is a community of crafters with online classes in several different subjects.
Craftsy is an online education site with a specific goal: to help users learn and/or hone a particular craft. There are many different expert instructors hosting classes on Crafsty, in topics ranging from quilting and sewing to cake decoration. When you sign up with Craftsy, you’re given unlimited access to the site’s hundreds of classes. Most classes are taught via video lecture, so it’s easier to follow as a craft is being made. You can access these video lessons at any time, from anywhere, making for a truly personalized learning experience. This does take a bit away from the typical community-oriented style of traditional craft classes or workshops, but it makes things easier to learn at the same time.
Craftsy differs from other online education portals in that it offers instruction for projects that completed with hands (or tools). In other words, it shows you how things can be built and made. This is an advantage because it’s unique to other, more academic-oriented online education sites, but it’s also tough because you have to have the right materials to participate. Still, anyone with the motivation to take a Craftsy class shouldn’t find that to be too difficult of an obstacle. Classes are also priced on an individual basis, ensuring you can choose the right class in which to enroll. Most are relatively affordable, hovering somewhere around the $30 mark. If there’s a craft you’ve been wanting to learn, consider checking out Craftsy first.
