Cat’s Eye View is the new marketing initiative hosted on the 9Lives’ site.
Cat’s Eye View is the first cat-interactive experience. Actually, it’s a marketing initiative for 9Lives, the nutritious cat food brand. But it puts you in the perspective of Morris the Cat, 9Lives long-time rescue cat mascot, as he tries out the latest in wearable technology. Cat’s Eye View begins with Morris’s owner unboxing the technology, which is essentially Google Glass designed for felines. Morris then takes off, running throughout the house as the camera films from the cat’s POV, as he looks through the technology of the glasses. As the video progresses, there are a number of choices for you to click, adding to the interactivity of the experience.
If you choose “Play Game” when presented with the option, for instance, then you get to watch Morris chase around the red dot of a laser pointer. If you choose “Take A Nap,” you get to watch Morris jump on a bed as he dreams of 9Lives canned food. The filming style of the whole experience is well done, as it truly puts you in the perspective of a cat with the freedom to roam around a large house. There’s also humor that should appeal to anyone familiar with the habits of cats (which, given that this is the Internet, should be almost everyone). It’s also easy to jump around to different scenes or to watch outtakes from the video on YouTube. It’s not much more than an extremely well-done commercial, but it’s still worth checking out for the cool filming techniques and interactive elements.
