When it Drops – Where do you go to find out about the newest releases? Sure, there are great movie sites and blogs giving you the right heads up, even trailers, but what about the newest game or music releases? Instead of going to different places for each, When it Drops has all of these conveniently showcased in one pretty place.
As you can see, you can browse new releases of last week, this week, expected releases of next week and those to be released in two weeks time. The concept of When it Drops is so simple, and the site’s so beautifully designed that it would be silly to go anywhere else for finding what new cool movies, DVDs, music albums and video games are out. Each movie’s entry offers a link to its trailer and to buying tickets to see it at the cinema. Music and game entries offer direct store link to Amazon.
Here’s a sneak peak of the music albums that will be released on the week of July 11:
Animals Being Dicks – It turns out animals can be heartless bastards, too. This funny blog is dedicated to all those documented instances of animals being hilariously cruel to each other (don’t worry, there’s nothing fatal or bloody inside).
To give an example, here’s one cute and funny example called Wanna Go for a Dip? I’ve already seen it happen numerous times among young children at the pool:
This example was the lightest of the bunch, and you’ll come across some ‘no-it-didn’t!’ entries in Animals Being Dicks. Enjoy.
Lipton Infinite Trip – Enter the never ending, whimsical world of Lipton tea and explore a mesmerizing visual story that varies by your choice of tea. At the site’s homepage, select your Lipton of choice (from Earl Grey, Or Sri Lanka, Bombay Tchai and others), and see what happens. You will have to use your mouse’s scroll button to go forward or backward in your tea’s story.
I picked Lipton Exclusive Collection’s Bombay Tchai and this is but one image of the illustrated journey I was thrown into.
Come and join Lipton’s mind blowing experience, and make sure your volume is on. The music is just as enchanting. Although I seriously doubt Lipton’s tea is as powerful as this visual experience, this marketing card is most certainly the way to go.
Number Ninjas – In this game of math and skills you must solve the equation in each level by adding or subtracting numbers in the right order. This is done by your number ninja, starting out as No. 1. Take the (+) or (-) signs and throw them at the numbers you want to add or subtract from, respectively. Pay attention to the controls. justWink – This cool app for the iPhone and Android lets you send customized greeting cards using your mobile. Add your personal touch with your own words rather than a tacky, ready-made phrase. Throw in a photo from your phone, and an actual signature to show you care. Choose from a variety of e-card themes including birthday, thank you, baby, wedding, friendship, even just because. Once you’re done you can send the greeting card via Facebook or email.
justWink’s interface is super easy to use, and it only takes a few taps to send your customized greeting card. See for yourself with this iPhone screenshot:
All My Faves Argentina – We’re psyched about our most recent country homepage for Argentina! This, along with All My Faves’ country pages for Brazil and Mexico pushes the visual search concept deeper into Latin America. Argentina, a country well known for its meat, its yummy Alfajores cookies and the FC Barcelona soccer legend Lionel Messi, is the newest addition to the All My Faves family.
The Argentinian homepage includes a visual showcase of the top online resources for Argentinian citizens, and as always, our team of human editors worked very hard to make sure only the best websites are listed for easy web navigation. So please give a big warm welcome to allmyfaves.com.ar – Vamos!
TuneIn – Everybody has a favorite radio station. Some of us like to listen to it while driving to or from work, others enjoy tuning in while at the office. Regardless of your favorite radio station, TuneIn offers better station finding and listening, whether online or on the go.
Aside from finding you the local radio stations by your physical location (via computer IP address), TuneIn introduces you to over 50,000 stations from all over the world, based on your chosen genre and favorite artists. I’m a huge blues and Muddy Waters fan, and here’s what TuneIn found me based on my music preferences:
The sound quality TuneIn offers is superb compared to the average radio station online, and the discovery aspect of this cool site is priceless. The TuneIn mobile app is a must-have if you like listening to radio, and you can use it while you’re driving, as long as you keep your two hands on the wheel -simply set your radio station’s play when you get into your car and you’re all set for the entire drive.
The TuneIn mobile app also invites you to follow favorite DJs and find new music based on favorite songs and artists. The best part about the app however, is the cross-device station preset option which means guaranteed good listening. The app is available for the iPhone, Android, Palm, Blackberry, Samsung Bada, Windows Phone, and for these home devices: Google TV, Yahoo TV, Roku and WDTV.
Fiverr – Simply put, Fiverr is the place where people show what they’re willing to do, buy or sell for $5. Sound weird, doesn’t it? That’s what I thought at first, but when you really think about it, Fiverr is a genius concept, and the large number of active users attests to this.
It turns out a lot of people are willing to do quite a bit for just $5, from personal greeting card creation to sending you hi-res photo of any text you want, just to name a few. Here’s a cool, high-rated offer for just $5: SOS Elite Media will create an impressive kinetic typography moving text video for you for, yes, just five bucks. How does Fiverr work, exactly? Here’s how:
VHX – How do you share cool videos with friends? Perhaps you simply share the YouTube or Vimeo link via email or Facebook, like most people. Well, VHX seeks to make the way we consume and share videos online better, easier and way cooler. As they explain, “VHX is the way you’re supposed to watch and share videos with friends. We’ve combined the best parts of TV with the best of the web.”
VHX offers several unique perks including the option to bookmark videos from anywhere on the Web, and a cool Chrome extension that tracks YouTube and Vimeo videos you watch anywhere on the web and saves them into your private history. In short, VHX is a note-worthy video player (no pun intended) in the online video field you ought to explore for better video consumption and sharing with friends.
MyPublisher – Who hasn’t come across those dreadful, totally over the top photo albums grandmas almost drool over at every large family gathering? Forget about those. Now there’s MyPublisher, a stylish website that helps you create affordable, high-quality custom-made books that offer “personal, creative outlets that let people truly express themselves.”
Take your pick between photo albums, photo calendars, scrapbook pages and even premium photo cards. I recommend checking out the site’s Just Published pages to see what other people have created, and to learn more about all the cool features MyPublisher offers. Here’s one of my personal favorites, Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong. Isn’t it adorable?
Sparked – Have you ever thought about volunteering but were forced to give it up due to a super busy schedule? Sparked is the perfect micro-volunteering spot for people just like you who want to help out but are simply too busy during the week to do so.
Sparked is the “world’s first microvolunteering network,” offering easy and meaningful online help options to busy moms, dads and young professionals who want to help make a change. Whatever you’re good at, whether it’s graphic design, marketing, web development, copy-writing or brainstorming, Sparked will match you with challenges non-profit organizations need assistance with.
Once you’ve stated your areas of expertise, Sparked will show you a list of open challenges for you to pitch in and help out.
Want to see Sparked in action? Check out the page for the challenge Brainstorm Fun Ideas Re: Govt. Failure to Commit on Climate. At All My Faves we fell in love with this amazing website that is not only beautifully built, but it’s one that also gets the (busy) community engaged.
