TheSkimm is the daily e-mail newsletter that gives you everything you need to start your day.
TheSkimm is a newsletter that’s delivered to your e-mail inbox every morning. The e-mail contains the biggest news stories of the day, condensed into short paragraphs by theSkimm’s own editorial staff. Each e-mail begins with a quote of the day — not necessarily an inspirational quote but something interesting that was said by a notable person. After that, there’s the main story, which is broken into segments to help you fully understand it from multiple angles. It’s typically focused on politics or world events. The e-mail also contains several other shorter stories, presented in the same style of short paragraphs beneath a catchy header like “What People Are Talking About …”
There are other newsletters out there that offer a service similar to theSkimm. Briefi.ng also sends a daily e-mail newsletter, often with the same stories and with arguably better design. TheSkimm, however, goes a little bit more in-depth and offers a few different, better perks. One such perk is the social sharing aspect. Every short paragraph can be easily shared via Facebook or Twitter with the click of a button. There’s also a “Skimm Birthdays” section, which features the names and hometowns of all the Skimm subscribers that were born on the particular day that the e-mail was sent out. It’s a nice touch that gives the newsletter a stronger sense of community. For busy professionals or anyone that doesn’t have enough time to browse longer articles or seek out the news on their own, theSkimm is the best and easiest way to stay on top of what’s going on in the world around you.
