Christmas Experiments is an advent calendar made by digital artists, leading up to the holiday.
Christmas Experiments is a digitized form of an advent calendar, the Christmas tradition that celebrates the days leading up to the holiday in a unique fashion. In traditional advent calendars, people might take out candy or a gift on each day of December leading up to Christmas. On Christmas Experiments, a different digital artist adds something to the site each day in order to complete the calendar. The site has been running for the past two years, and each year they’ve expanded the type of inventive content built by designers, coders and digital artists on the site.
The 24 developers who created projects for this year’s installment of Christmas Experience come from a variety of companies, backgrounds and places around the world. Many are professional developers, while others are more focused on creating digital pieces of art. Visiting Christmas Experiments on a daily basis is as exciting as opening an actual advent calendar, simply because you never really know what that day’s digital artist is going to offer. This year, there’s a game in which you control Santa as he sleds around a snowy landscape, another game in which you guide Santa and his elves around a sliding platform, and other unique experiments. It’s definitely a treat to visit the site each day and discover a new, Christmas-themed digital project.
