Countable empowers citizens with the knowledge and tools needed to directly influence policy and keep track of congressional representatives.
Countable helps keep government transparent. It does so by clearly depicting how representatives vote, and allowing you to contact your representative directly in an attempt to influence their decisions in Washington. The site also provides comprehensive overviews of specific bills and legislation, informing citizens how the laws are progressing through Congress. The summaries of bills are detailed, informative and obviously well-researched. They’re also split across categories such as Economy, Education, Defense, Taxes, Immigration and Health, so you can find the topic that pertains to you most more easily.
In its descriptions of proposed legislation, Countable often utilizes other forms of media to explain the arguments both in favor and against. In the article “Online Equality: Banning For-Pay Internet ‘Fast Lanes,'” for instance, a video of John Oliver discussing net neutrality is embedded under the “Argument in favor” heading. The cleanliness of the site’s design in general makes it easier to digest the important information that’s displayed. It’s a significant step forward for democracy when individuals have a tool that keeps them informed while allowing them to directly contact representatives and track whether or not their message has been received. Countable is an important tool that should be used or at least checked out by all residents of the United States.
