Pipl – There are various reasons why you might need to search for people; you may wish to find a lost relative, an old flame, a former classmate or a business contact. Pipl claims that “If you are using a search engine such as Google or Yahoo to search for people, you have probably realized by now that it might work in some cases but in MOST cases it won’t. Why? The answer lies in a little known but very important part of the web called the deep web.” Pipl suggests that their smart algorithms have overcame this problem and are designed to retrieve information from the deep web. I have set an experiment and searched for 5 people through Pipl and Google. The results were quite the same, which means that Google could probably search the deep web just as effectively. Nevertheless, when I’ll need or want to search for someone on the web in the future, I will definitely use Pipl because their interface is of a much better quality than the Google one. The display offered a better understanding of who is the person I searched for. When I first saw this site’s logo I recalled the Stevie, Usher and Shakira’s inauguration performance of Higher Ground but instead of singing “People keep on learnin'” I transformed it into “People keep on searching” – just felt like sharing a personal moment with you guys…
