Qik – Do you have a cellphone? Does it have a video camera? If you answered Yes then you can start using Qik. Qik is a little piece of software that enables you to stream videos directly from your phone to the Web. No memory storage is needed, your shots go directly from your cellular to your profile (if privacy concerns you, you can set it as private). This idea thrills me as I see endless usage purposes from streaming a robbery and reporting it live to shooting your nephew’s first steps to the happy father that currently is overseas. The execution is poorly done, many of the streams get stuck while viewing and in addition the current service doesn’t support all handsets however even though there is a lot of things to improve I still see a big future for these guys. Go Live with your life!

uvLayer – 3 months ago I was watching YouTube and felt kinda frustrated, I shared my frustration with my brother – why can’t I watch more than one video on the same page. uvLayer has created a great user interface enabling you the feature of watching multiple videos simultaneously. The problem with uvLayer is that instead of focusing and developing the simultaneously feature, they have focused on sharing. Sharing Sharing Sharing, enough sharing all the time, who has the time and the effort for this and lets say you decided to create a sharing platform – make it simple!

HealthMap – HealthMap brings together disparate data sources to achieve a unified and comprehensive view of the current global state of infectious diseases and their effect on human and animal health. The site integrates outbreak data of varying reliability, ranging from news sources (such as Google News) to curated personal accounts (such as ProMED) to validated official alerts (such as World Health Organization). The data is aggregated by disease and displayed visually by location. HealthMap provides a jumping-off point for real-time information on emerging infectious diseases and has particular interest for public health officials and international travelers.

Vimeo Staff – Vimeo is a thriving community of people who love to make and share video. From simple moments to masterpieces, Vimeo is the perfect home for you to upload, store and share all the video you create. The video quality (HD) on Vimeo is the best I have experienced compared to all other video providers. The Vimeo staff have created an outstanding site, so give them credit and check or simply subscribe to their RSS picks. My fave (from the staff’s picks) is Fireplays.

BlogHer – If I was a woman my review would be like this “I am woman, I blog, therefore, I am a big fan of BlogHer. Not to mention, where else are you gonna find a whole bunch of women bloggers that like to chit chat, have a few drinks, and talk about everything?” Apparently, I am not a woman however I still enjoy reading BlogHer – Stop racism against men, we have nothing against you, so why do you have against us! Additional woman sites that have been featured on our weekly faves include: Glam, SheKnows, wowOwow and Shine.

WalletPop – Money makes the world go around! AOL’s latest strategy is expanding their content by blogs (Switched, Shine and BigDownload). The latest AOL addition is Walletpop. Walletpop’s aim is to provide users practical information on topics such as debt management, retirement, mortgages and taxes, while the classic AOL Money & Finance will focus more on general business and investment news.

UniqLock – Watch Japanese schoolgirls dancing to the beat of a clock and a jazzy soundtrack. I researched this striking site and discovered that it actually is an advertisement of a cool Japanese clothes manufacturer called Uniqlo. I am very impressed by their marketing maneuver, I can just wonder why we don’t have more ads like this? In addition if you liked it you can download it as a screen saver and hypnotize your friends. What time is it? It is time to say: It is not You, It’s me!

VectorPark – Fun and addictive flash artwork by artist Patrick Smith. I could spend hours playing in this quiet little digital universe. I like the fact that you feel compelled to continue playing despite the near total absence of reward. Psychologically interesting.

Bansky – People say graffiti is ugly, irresponsible and childish but Bansky’s work adds a bit of an edge to the street and something to think about. His vandalism makes the world a better place, a little more livable. Bansky – You are a true inspiration!

Ownage Burst – Bullets and explosions everywhere in a city where the only thing that matters is to survive. Kill hundreds of enemies in this senseless action flash game. Avoid mortal shots while head shooting random baddies and then roll for cover with the lateral jump, or throw grenades to see them blown to pieces.
