Everyday through Longreads, readers will find new links to different types of stories. Whether it be long-form journalism, magazine stories from your favorite publications, short stories, interviews and much more, there is something for everyone. Don’t worry if you don’t know what a long-read is, all it is, is a piece of writing that is normally longer than 1,500 words. The site features fiction and non-fiction wok, so there is a little something for everyone and all their preferences in reading material.
Everyday there is something new, so if you spend all your free time reading (which is way more productive than how some of us spend time) there will be more to come back to everyday. Reading all the content on Longreads is free, but there is an option to become a member. They recommend $3/month or $30/year, but you can give as much as you would like. Without the support of readers and their donations, Longreads would have had to shut down after a few years. If you’re wondering where your donation goes, all contributions go directly to independent publishers and writers. The contributions help fun the exclusives from those publishers and writers and other original work. The more members, the more stories that will be funded. If you don’t think the $3 will help much, WordPress.com is matching each Longreads donation to make then worth twice as much. As a member, you’ll also receive some special surprises along the way as a thank you for being a member.
