If the Moon Were Only 1 Pixel is a tediously accurate model of the solar system.
The World Is A Big Place
If the Moon Were Only 1 Pixel is a project that asks its’ users to look at the solar system in a new way. Interactive media designer, Josh Worth, has brought all the planets and some of their satellites and all the space in between to scale. This project brings space to a reality for everyone to experience. This project was created as a way for Worth to explain the universe to his 5 year old daughter. Scrolling through If the Moon Were Only 1 Pixel, space is the main point of the project. Scrolling through one would think all the planets would line up, but because space has been brought to scale, there is a lot of scrolling going on. As the ruler moves, that means the kilometers are too. Since If the Moon Were Only 1 Pixel launched, Worth has been contacted by astronomers, physicists and other scientists wanting to help improve the project. Many parents have said they share this project with kids as well. Scrolling the universe takes about 17 minutes if you don’t stop. If the Moon Were Only 1 Pixel is an interesting way to explore the universe and solar system and it takes way less time.
