Explore the Cycle – Recycling, (visually) Explained

Explore The Cycle – Recycling isn’t all about saving the environment. Well, yes, it is, but there’s more to it than that. It also offers a cash saving ticket to cities and towns. Did you know that throwing away trash is an expensive ordeal? First, there’s the need to establish a designated space for disposing the garbage (a landfill). Second, one has to pay for ‘storing’ it there forever. How about this: what if we recycle more and throw out less? Although indeed, collecting recyclables and transporting them to a Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) costs money, regular garbage requires the same. What makes the entire difference (and opportunity) is that aluminum, plastics, paper and other recyclable materials are valuable – trash isn’t. This means that municipalities can actually sell their recyclables to MRFs for about $10 a ton. The MRF cleans and sorts the materials and sells them to manufacturers and processors. Sounds simple? It’s actually much more basic than you might think. If you’re interested about recycling and want to learn more on how you can join in, I suggest you check out Explore The Cycle. They’ll help you understand the system a bit better. Now that you know how it works, see how you can get rewarded for doing so.
