Days with My Father – A Poignant Photo Diary of a Loving Son

Days with My Father – Phillip Toledano is a professional photographer whose talent, as I think you will agree, is obvious. When Phillip’s mother passed away, it was just him and his father left, seen as he is an only child. With his father’s physical and mental state slowly deteriorating as a result of old age, Philip turned to the one thing he knew best in order to cope with his harsh reality: photography. The result is a mesmerizing photographic diary of Phillip and his interactions with and anecdotes of his father. This sad story is beautifully told, both visually and textually. I can only hope that when I reach my old age I will have family members that will take care of me and love me as Phillip did his father.

  • What a lovely tribute, I cried, not because your father died but because he'd lived and touched your life in such an amazing way and because you had allowed him to. My mother-in-law past away last year and my husband and I spent a lot of time with her in her last months, time we will always be grateful for. Funny what death does to a relationship, opens it up and leaves it naked and real. Thank you for sharing.

  • What a wonderful time you shared with your father in his last years and days. Your photographs and writing touched me like it was just yesterday I lost both of my parents. It wasn't easy losing them both so close. You were a beautiful son and family to love and care for him in his late years. Patience and love is so important in their last days for them, and for you. Thank You for sharing your wonderful tribute to your father and mother in their ending years with you. You touched my heart greatly and made me remember my time with my parents again in their last days.
