Aplus is a digital media company that aims to make a difference in the world by promoting positive journalism.
Too much of online media is dominated by negativity. Aplus, the digital media outlet co-founded by entrepreneurs Ashton Kutcher, Evan Beard and Kendall Dabaghi, aims to break out of the negative news cycle. Instead, the site features positive stories intended to inspire its readership. The site highlights social issues around the globe, features advice articles for personal improvement, and posts emotional and motivational stories about a wide variety of topics. All of the stories are uplifting, easy to read, and sharable. A visit to the site could lead you to articles with headlines like “Zach Galifanakis Saved This 87-Year-Old Woman From Homelessness” and “Meet The MMA Fighter With Down Syndrome Who Is Fighting For His Rights.”
Aplus benefits from Kutcher’s massive influence, which he’s using to promote good in the world. It has already amassed more than 30 million monthly viewers, all of which are able to consume positive content that should help inspire them to make a difference in their own lives and throughout the world. Distinguishing itself from sites like Upworthy that convey a similar social message, Aplus also encourages its readers to take action. There’s an “Act” section of the site that shows how people are doing good things in their communities around the globe, as well as “Change” and “Connect” sections that include content that could be directly applicable to readers’ lives. There’s also a newsletter and plenty of social channels for anyone interested in filling their lives with more positive content. Considering the overwhelming amount of negative content we’re constantly bombarded with on a daily basis, reading Aplus is a refreshing change of pace. It’s great to see the incredible things people are doing around the world, and to get inspired to do the same.
