View the Best Videos on the Web
There is so much quality video content available online that an awards system like the EMMY’s hardly seems relevant anymore. Not only are those awards only handed out once a year, but they largely ignore the millions of people who create content on their own, outside of the traditional television industry. VOTD serves as the online equivalent of the EMMYs, honoring content creators by highlighting the “Video of the Day” from around the web. The award is voted on by the site’s panel of judges as well as the community at large.
Submit Your Own Work for Consideration
Any user can submit a 5-minute or less video to VOTD for consideration for the award. All of the day’s nominees are subsequently rated by the site’s judging panel as well as other viewers. The judges’ opinion counts for 75% while the general public accounts for 25% of the overall vote. After a video has been nominated for 7 days, its score is calculated and matched up against the winning videos from the previous 30 days. The highest scoring video is then featured on the home page. The site offers a cool, unique way for the highest quality short films and videos to be featured in one location online. Past winners also remain available for viewing on the site, and there’s a bunch of great content from a diverse group of filmmakers that’s definitely worth viewing.
